Green Tara saddhana resources
Green Tara saddhana resources
Hello,
I have received a Green Tara empowerment and lung (standard Chokgyur Lingpa one).
Although I have been provided with an extensive commentary by my guru, there is much I do not recall and wasn't able to write down in detail, especially regarding the visualization of the 20 taras. Could anybody point me to good resources (books, websites, etc)?
Thanks

Bokar Rinpoche wrote a book, "Tara: the Feminine Divine." Google it. Great stuff.
Also, Bokar Khenpo Lodro Donyo wrote a book about Tara, which is harder to find in English translation, and expensive, when I last looked...it has some info relating specifically to Chogyur Lingpa's terma.
The Khenpo Bros. also wrote a book about Tara, if I recall, which I'm sure is wonderful. And Martin Wilson wrote "In Praise of Tara."
And then there's "The Cult of Tara," which has a great deal of info about Tara, specifically, and Tibetan Buddhist practices, in general.

There is a complete online program based on the Zabtig Tara practice from the Chokling Tersar;etinin wrote:Hello,

Since this is a complete cycle there are actually many empowerment's and sadhana's in this cycle. You can find a good outline of the whole cycle in "Skillful Grace". The well known sadhana (link above to tibetsupply) that is practiced in both Kagyu and Nyingma is actually the outer sadhana in the cycle.

I know this is an old thread but it turned up in a google search.etinin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2013 1:06 am Hello,

Does anyone know which Chokgyur Lingpa Tara sadhana is the “standard” one?
I received a GT empowerment from H.E. Namkhai Nyingpo recently and it was from Chokgyur Lingpa but he didn't specify further. If there is a standard one that is likely what it was.
Can anyone possibly pm or point me to the sadhana?
Thanks
Re: Green Tara saddhana resources
It isn't standard it is just very common. Try to contact the center and ask them what Tara it was.DechenDave wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 5:58 pmI know this is an old thread but it turned up in a google search.etinin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2013 1:06 am Hello,

I tried. No reply. He was actually supposed to do a different one entirely and changed to Green Tara on the day.heart wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 6:43 pmIt isn't standard it is just very common. You get it here for free, but you probably need some instruction on how to do it but many lamas know how to do this sadhana.

Zabtik Drolma, a mind treasure of Chogling's.
Sometimes the empowerment of Green Tara and the 21 Taras from Thukdrup Barchay Kunsel is given...it's described as an "activity branch" of that terma cycle.

If it was the second you mention, would that have included the 21 action mantras? That might narrow it down because If I recall he only commented that the empowerment enabled us to say the Green Tara one.conebeckham wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 9:22 pm Zabtik Drolma, a mind treasure of Chogling's.

So if it is therefore from the Zabtik Drolma, would the one empowerment likely grant permission to do any version of the sadhana? On Lotsawa House I noticed an Elaborate and a condensed version, and then an even more condensed daily version composed by Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche.

Does that book cover the Chokling practice in question? Is this the Green Tara practiced at KTD and KTC’s? At Bardor Tulku’s center?
Re: Green Tara saddhana resources
Yes it does and yes this is the Green Tara practice that is commonly done at most Nyingma and Kagyu centers. It is done daily at Bardor Rinpoche's center, Kunzang Palchen Ling.DechenDave wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 2:28 amThank you TermaTerma wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 2:57 pm https://www.kunzang.org/kpl-bookstore/p ... tara-book/

Yes, you can do the one you like, but I would recommend to get instructions how to do the long one anyway. The very short one is by Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche one of Tulku Urgyens sons.DechenDave wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 2:24 amIf it was the second you mention, would that have included the 21 action mantras? It sounds like it’s widely pratcied enough that I should be able to track down a place to learn.
