Congratulations Venerable!

Could this be a first for a foreigner holding an important official position in a Taiwanese monastic order?

I wish having the kind of background Ven. Huifeng has in his spirituality were more the rule than the exception in the discourse of those who guide others in their spirituality. I looked up Fo Guang Shan on the Wiki and that reaffirmed my wish there were room in public discourse for the official voice of more than the Top Three voices of spirituality, and those all Abrahamic, ("Fear ye Canaan!"), with Tenzin Gyatso allowed to bicycle along after the big floats, just ahead of the people with brooms sweeping up the fertilizer.

But all these years of study and practice, and all they can do is put you in charge of vice?

Seriously, is is a big deal for you to be recognized by the Chinese for your Dharma and academic accomplishments.

We are most fortunate to have you on DW.

Best wishes for you with your new responsibilities,

Your path to this position seems stranger than most but that, IMHO, is a very good thing: every organisation needs the renewal provided by people of different backgrounds.

Congrats venerable!
