ZhangZhung

Post by mint »

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting back into Dzogchen practice, but starting slowly. It's been a couple of years since I did any meditations or anything like that. Anyway, I was wondering if someone could provide me the link for the ZhangZhung website so I could order the "Song of the Vajra" text.

Great, thanks. Could you also provide one for the Italy store too in case the US store lacks something I need? Thanks again.

"Song of the Vajra" is the best initial text to study, right?

Do you mean the explanation or just the SoV itself? You can get the text itself for free from http://www.shangshunginstitute.net/webcast/files.php

The explanation is very nice to read, but is a restricted book, so you would have to become a member to be able to get it.

Hi Mint, great to see you here again.

If you haven't read them, try these:

http://www.amazon.com/Dzogchen-Self-Per ... khai+norbu

http://www.amazon.com/The-Cycle-Day-Nig ... khai+norbu

http://www.shangshungstore.org/index.ph ... etail&p=31

I found them, and still find, incredibly helpful.

Hi tree:

I just purchased the first one on your list last night. I was revisiting some old threads from a couple of years ago and saw where Malcolm gave me some great advice, so I intend to go through and make notes. The primary thing I need to do is get back into meditation...which will be the most difficult thing for me. But, I'm glad to say that I have the freedom now to do that which I didn't have a couple of years ago.

Very happy to hear you say so. If you need some guidance on GY/contemplation, do try Mirror and The Cycle of Day and Nights. They are contemplation manuals, both of them, concise, clear and very accessible -- especially the first one, which is possibly the best basic introduction to Trekcho I've come across. The Cycle is a bit more detailed, and probably comes most handy only after one has devoted some time to practice.

If you need some useful background info as well as advice on how to get grounded in practice, go for The Precious Vase. It's not a very easy reading, occasionally requiring a commentary of a qualified instructor -- and its language sometimes doesn't sound too English -- but on the whole it is simply invaluable.

Just my two cents, of course.
