Nga-gyur ka-mai yen-lag gyad-pa

Post by pemachophel »

I was trying to translate a sadhana last night when I came upon the instructions to insert the: nga-gyur ka-mai yen-lag gyad-pa (old transmission oral lineage eight-limbed [prayer]. I remember when receiving the lung for this sadhana that the Teacher said this was a commonly known prayer. However, I've never heard of it, at least not under this name. Does anyone know what prayer this is referring to and, more importantly, where to find it?

Thanks.

I bought the suggested text from the TBRC but it's not the right one. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Sorry, I don't. That's part of the problem. I don't have much info to go on. I'm trying to get clarification from the Teacher I received the sadhana from.

There is a prayer titled "The Eight Branched Offering"...sounds alot like "eight limbed prayer",
also this is a very "commonly known prayer" in the sense that "we" would say this one at the beginning of just about
every Sadhana, all the "high" days etc... so if it is the same you can find it here:

http://vimalatreasures.org/eight-branched-offering.aspx

The prayer starts "Dorje Lopon Sangye Pal"
To the Vajra Master, the glorious Buddha

"Du Sum Shug la Chag Tsal Lo"
Who remains in the Three Times, I prostrate etc....

"eight limbed" perhaps = "eight branched"

T. Chokyi,

Duh, of course! Thank you for reminding me of this. I know this well. Just didn't think of it from the Tibetan description. Case closed.

T. Chokyi,

I found my Tibetan version. Do you have the rest of the English translation? Would you be willing to PM it to me? I found a translation on-line, but it clearly has problems.

Thanks.
