BTW, this http://www.dharmaseed.org/teacher/335/talk/16894/ is the first talk by Anam Thubten that I ever attended, at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery. It rocked my world.

One of the first things I ever heard Anam Thubten say remains a guiding image for me to this day.
Like I said: Dude hits it.

Reggie Ray has been doing a series of live stream teachings for a couple of weeks now, and I just watched yesterday's. He says some very interesting and extremely positive things about Anam Thubten at the beginning of the teaching that I thought readers of this thread would enjoy hearing:

From https://www.facebook.com/257372695250/p ... 954330251/:
Here is a new poem written by Anam Thubten after the teaching in Louisville this past weekend:
The Loveliness of Louisville
The city of Louisville has a charm coming from the good hearts of its people;
The bluegrass pastures stretching hundreds of miles do not inspire me.
Racing horses is not my thing.
Kentucky Fried Chicken has no spell on me,
Not like Kombucha does.
The west coast redwoods stole my heart long ago,
The sensual California beaches just won't let me fall in love with anywhere else.
My body tends to get grouchy when far from high mountains
and great seas.
Yet when your soul longs for nice fellows
here is the promised city to pilgrimage to.
They will welcome you,
feed you,
hug you,
care for you,
compliment you.
Oh yes,
Fourth Street adds a big aura to this city.
That is where my hero Thomas Merton had a big epiphany while walking.
Maybe satori fell upon him like an apple falling from a tree,
hitting his head.
Wish that would happen to me.
Wish that would happen to some of our beloved politicians gushing out not very pleasant ideologies.
Wish that would happen to some of my fellow Buddhists too.
The kind heart is a magic pill.
It makes you feel you're at home.
This city has been my home the last few days.
A beautiful tribe has been formed.
Fond memories will go on.
There is a golden chest of good memories
deep inside my heart.
Long ago,
this chest was quite empty.
Today
it is so full.
Soon
I may need a bigger one.
The memories from this place will continue
and follow with many more.
What's in your memory box?
Go to Louisville
Pick up some good ones that will make your life fuller.
Just this morning
at a Tibetan temple
my James Dean, kind of cool looking friend enticed
a group of open hearted into singing a Kentucky folk song.
That was so surreal,
and amazingly,
widened my heart very, very big.
Life is short,
A message from many wise ones.
The folks here seem to know it in their bones.
They invited me
to celebrate
to love
to be loved.
A few days ago
coming here was going somewhere.
Leaving here now feels like going away.
I'm here at a modern airport looking around
a world of steel and glass
with busy people talking and looking at their cell phones.
Suddenly
I'm a little island
in a sea of strangers.
There is this deafening emptiness.
Sacred is hard to feel.
Spirit is hard to smell.
I'm closing my eyes,
So I can open the chest.

An extremely moving talk that I had the good fortune to attend in person. I especially appreciated his discussion of "the most beautiful question": Who am I?
