Essentials for Meditation
Just a reminder that the Tian-Tai founder Chih-i (or Zhiyi) wrote very influential meditation texts. Two of them were translated by Bhikshu Dharmamitra in his Kalavinka Press series.

Thanks Will
Re: Essentials for Meditation
I seriously recommend this book of Master Zhiyi, particularly in Ven Dharmamitra's translation, for anybody who is wanting to start from the basics of meditation in the broader Chinese Buddhism context - be it Tiantai, or Chan, or even Pureland and other schools.Will wrote:Just a reminder that the Tian-Tai founder Chih-i (or Zhiyi) wrote very influential meditation texts. If you want PDFs in addition to (or instead of) books, go here for a free download: http://ifile.it/t3aqukl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is THE primer.
And yes, the first review of this book in Amazon version is also from me.
I'm presently going through the much larger, shall we say "full" version of this short term, Master Zhiyi's Explanation of the Perfection of Dhyana, for the second time. These writings are gold.

Re: Breath Meditation
This is the ToC & Introduction to the other meditation text which focuses on the breath. It is very profound.
