Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

Which is why it is ALWAYS better to err on the side of caution and even better to always follow what YOUR teachers say. ;) I certainly would not advise you or anyone else to engage in such a practice against wisdom, but I just shared it as a sort of counterpoint. He says, and I quote, “This text wa...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

I have looked through the archives with this. Have one question, however. Which Chenrezig Sadhanas are Unrestricted and can be practised by non-Tantric Initiates? I've had it arise a couple of times, people who are interested but not ready or inclined to take Tantric initiation yet. I know I can re...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

Thanks, Everyone Apologies the question caused so much division, which I wasn't expecting and certainly not intended. Anyway, I was just trying to be of benefit to a couple of people. I think if you have a qualified answer from a lineage you are practising within then that is definitive with no need...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

There are definitely practices and teachers that allow Chenrezig self - visualization without empowerment, because they have open public practices. Whether it can/should be done on ones own is less clear of course. Does the OP know which one's are public and which are not? Probably not, given they ...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

"Lord of Love" by Bokar Rinpoche. Pithy teachings, open sadhana, clear instructions on what to do if you lack the empowerment, and visualizations that everyone can do. If someone does the practices in this book, even if they never have the opportunity to take empowerment, they will grow their posit...

FPMT has many unrestricted sadhanas with front visualization available for many different deities including Chenrezig.
Any Direct Links so I know I'm choosing the right one?

Re: Can we discuss Theravada teachings?

Well I am mainly a Varjrayana practitioner with interest in Mahayana teachings as well. Lately, I have been delving into Theravada teachings as they seem pretty straightforward compared to Vajrayana teachings. I used to be a Thai Forest Monk Two things I still do from Theravada - Walking Meditation...

Re: empowerment for Dudjom Tersar Ngondro

... The short ngondro actually is from the Troma cycle of Dudjom Lingpa. I am actually quite confused by this. I know of the preliminary for the Khandro Thugtig part of the Tersar, with the unusual feature of the lama being in the form of Orgyen Dorje Chang or Pema Garwang; a preliminary in which G...

Re: Achi Chökyi Drolma as Padmasambhava’s consort

Hi folks, There’s an Achi sadhana From Achi Peibum, and composed by Achi where she says, she’s the Karmamudra of Padmasambhava and the most tenacious one. The sadhana contains the Harinisa mantra, which is connected with the dakini sadhanas of Padmasambhava. The Sarma sadhana go with a different ma...

Re: What is the difference between being kind and compassionate?

I think it is easy for us as Mahayana Buddhists to succumb to a kind of intellectual faux compassion, where we have thoughts of compassion and intention for it, but it's not really felt nor reflected in our being and actions. In the benign end of the scale, we intend for compassion on the way to it...

Can you go back to your old teacher? I mean: are they still around? They sure are, its Garchen Rinpoche. And when i think about him i feel a sense of "its alright, get back on track, keep going." And a feeling of forgiveness. Love that man. Emphasise Vajrasattva if you have it and email your point ...

Re: Should we be generous to the ungrateful?

I love to be generous. Even when I expect nothing in return. I don't mine anonymous generosity, in fact this can be the best kind. However. I react differently when dealing with difficult people, or those who are so caught up in egocenteredness, who just expect others to help them without considera...

Hi everyone,

Is there a Vajrakilaya practice that does not require empowerment? Additionally, are there any texts describing Vajrakilaya that do not require permission/empowerment for study?

Thank you!!
Garchen Rinpoche gives this Empowerment regularly of late.
