Re: Suffering

'Du-kkha' literally translates as 'Hard-to Bear' or 'Difficult-to Bear'. Well, actually ... Dukkha (Pali; Sanskrit duḥkha) is a term found in ancient Indian literature, meaning anything that is "uneasy, uncomfortable, unpleasant, difficult, causing pain or sadness".[7][8] It is also a concept in In...

Re: Suffering

I agree Samsara is a Prison we are bound to which we need to find the exit door. I wish you all the best with life/practice and so on. Thank-you for the debate!!! It is important to understand you can't fix Samsara, it is unfixable. Quoting Dzongsar Khyentse here. /magnus I didn't think that. Altho...

Re: Suffering

No, that isn't correct. Samsara is Dukkha and it is not because of bad karma. Everywhere in Samsara it is Dukkha, from the highest god realms to the lowest hell. There is no place in Samsara that isn't Dukkha. /magnus So Negative Karma doesn't cause Dukkha? It always does. That's what I said. Where...

Re: Suffering

I find this extremely interesting. Is a search for enlightenment, then, an aim to make life not so hard to bear? Is it to bear life in spite of its hardness? Is it both? Is it, in a sense, neither? The problem is Samsara, the main quality of Samsara is Dukkha. Also Karma. There is no rea...

Re: Suffering

This is a basic question, but it's important enough that it seems I should ask for your input. The formulation of the First Noble Truth that I'm familiar with is found in the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, where it lists a few causes of dukkha and then adds that "the five clinging-aggregates are stre...

Re: spying spirits

Nevertheless, if these activities are done out of malice and ill will, then they generate huge amounts of bad karma. This is why Vajrayana is supposed to be kept secret, is typically taught in a cautious, step-by-step manner, and is described again and again as dangerous and not for everyone. When ...

Re: spying spirits

I am in no way contradicting H.H. the Dalai Lama, but H.H. the Dalai Lama, being Avalokiteshwara incarnate, is acting on a much higher level than most practitioners are. In Vajrayana, wrathful [subjugation] is one of the four Enlightened activities, all of which are practiced out of Bodhicitta. Whe...

Re: Another Topic of molesting female practitioner

I hope for swift healing for all concerned, especially those who have the courage to speak.

In Samsara we're all Victims or Victimisers.

May the Vajrayana Dharma be practised well and all beings find the Dharma of Non-Abiding and liberate others too as intended!

Dear brothers and sisters,
i'd like to know your opinion about the critic to pure land buddhism as a way of scape reality or our responsability to change ourselves and this world where we live now

The goal of Mahayana and Vajrayana is to Empty Samsara completely.

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

Which is why it is ALWAYS better to err on the side of caution and even better to always follow what YOUR teachers say. ;) I certainly would not advise you or anyone else to engage in such a practice against wisdom, but I just shared it as a sort of counterpoint. He says, and I quote, “This text wa...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

I have looked through the archives with this. Have one question, however. Which Chenrezig Sadhanas are Unrestricted and can be practised by non-Tantric Initiates? I've had it arise a couple of times, people who are interested but not ready or inclined to take Tantric initiation yet. I know I can re...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

Thanks, Everyone Apologies the question caused so much division, which I wasn't expecting and certainly not intended. Anyway, I was just trying to be of benefit to a couple of people. I think if you have a qualified answer from a lineage you are practising within then that is definitive with no need...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

There are definitely practices and teachers that allow Chenrezig self - visualization without empowerment, because they have open public practices. Whether it can/should be done on ones own is less clear of course. Does the OP know which one's are public and which are not? Probably not, given they ...

Re: Unrestricted Chenrezig Sadhana

"Lord of Love" by Bokar Rinpoche. Pithy teachings, open sadhana, clear instructions on what to do if you lack the empowerment, and visualizations that everyone can do. If someone does the practices in this book, even if they never have the opportunity to take empowerment, they will grow their posit...
