Re: Yes or No ...

I get too excited, too much dopamine, too much adrenaline then insomnia = time for read only rehab  Do you think...

Re: Dont follow a lineage (etc.), follow a teacher

Oh Dear! I knew I'd put my foot in it sooner or later  It was something I intuitively felt at the time. Over 35 years ago. Not something that was demanded. And I did say I was young, naive & lucky. In retrospect, I'm glad I took that approach. And, yes, it was outside standard Buddhist practi...

I will completely cop to being the sort of practitioner who sees the teacher in the "good friend" model, not an infallible person worthy of selfless devotion.
I always found total Surrender to my teacher very useful. But, generally speaking, not without dangers. I guess I was young, naive & lucky.

Yes. Still got rebellious daddy issues in my 60's :rolleye:

Repressed childhood anger, manifesting as passive aggressive humour, disguised as crazy wisdom. It's a massive blindspot :jumping:

Re: Dont follow a lineage (etc.), follow a teacher

My primary teacher was a Taoist Master. Even I didn't know it at the time. She gave me mostly "Zen" because that was how I framed my questions. She flipped me over with a Live Koan

Is fun just as important as seriousness?

Is that question too serious?

Can I ask three questions?

If tea is not your thing, how about a fire poker? ;) Reminding Meido could be dangerous :jedi: Especially if he meets any Zennies who.... fall into a kind of gentle, New Age guru meets Protestant minister meets psychotherapist, very spiritual way of speaking, using all the right catchwords :jumping:

Re: Looking ahead...(split from ZFI topic)
