Re: Dzogchen Teachings of Longchen Rabjam Drime Özer (Zhi Lam Drä Bu)

In the end of the Munich retreat, a bequest by Garchen Rinpoche of how structures should be set and who should become responsible for which region has been communicated. This part is not on the youtube recording but should be made available online soon. I don't know when exactly that'll be

Well Kirt, I guess very basic computer science does not quite cover it. But if that is your memory, possibly that is under which focus your thinking was these days. The book is about self-referentiality, braids, modulation of themes, recombination, possibly even how cognition works. It also applies ...

Hofstadter

I bravely commenced my lecture on Douglas Hofstadter's Gödel, Escher, Bach . 791 pages ahead. I have just by coincidence found that book 9 months ago, was looking for what buddhist philosophy and the concept of paradox have in common. Being aware that a good share of this forum's participants are we...

Wir können sogar protestieren, ohne enthauptet zu werden - nur nützt unser Protest eben nichts, im Gegenteil, unser Protest attestiert den Machthabern bekanntlich, dass sie tolerant sind. Max Frisch ENG: We even can protest without being decapitated -only that our protest doesn't help, contrary eve...

Anyone who might have a high opinion of his own worth - each may think he is practicing dharma, but as long as he is under the sway of these limiting conditions, he is not on the true path.

Re: What Shamatha tradition best prepares one for Dzogchen?

The lama I started off with also does shamata only. He is fully trained from Sertar and shamata may also have been a good excuse to apply as little English as necessary. But he also explained his choice: Westerners are so full of babbling though of which one first of all has to become aware and calm...

Re: Dzogchen and psychedelics?

How serious is your practise? I tend to follow the words of people accredited for what they are doing and their lineage. I heard the following taking strong positions against choosing psychedelic drugs as part of the path - Mingyur Rinpoche - James Low* I think (but am not 100% sure) Garchen Rinpoch...

Re: Where do I start?

Hi Luis, welcome to Dharmawheel. Depends a bit whether you have knowledge about Buddhism or not. Mahayana as a fresh start is not so good, you need to know some basics like path of liberation, five poisons, six paramitas, the essence of bodhisattva, four seals etc. Usually the obtainment of further ...

to grasp the sense of Greg's argument you have to empathize with the notion to inject (anything) into your eyeball.

Not nice of Lion's Roar: insinuating something without spelling it out. Why not just contact them? I heard a girl having that question to Mingyur Rinpoche. She mentioned that name, I think it started with K, followed by the Rinpoche title. So I guess he is Tibetan (or just wears a Tibetan name). I d...

Re: TIPS? ADVICE? Leaving one sangha, looking for another, interested in Tergar/Mingyur

During a retreat I attended this summer, there were many participants who started off with the online programme and received empowerment only later when the occasion was there. I recommend you rather do not rely on hearsay but contact the instructors. I think I even remember Mingyur saying that ever...
