There is no primordial state.

There is, however, a book called "The Marvelous Primordial State" that the OP might find worth looking at.

Re: Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo & Lama Tsultrim Allione: Shambhala's Sakyong Mipham

Does the autobiography say whether he ever branded any of his male students? Would this make his actions any less cruel and abusive to this woman? Or are you merely trying to show that cruel and abusive behavior was a norm for Tibetans and therefore, we should not be concerned about Osel Mukpo's se...

Pema Gyatso.

Re: How to End Samaya?

Incidentally the late Akong Rinpoche said that CTR was in many ways a pioneer and an extraordinary teacher but that he had breached samaya long before he reached the West so that in effect he was not a guru and had no students in the traditional sense. That's interesting. Did he specify in what way...

Re: Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo & Lama Tsultrim Allione: Shambhala's Sakyong Mipham

Well, at least SMR doesn't seem to have branded anyone. Yes, that makes his growing record of sexual assaults so much more palatable. Then of course, there are the invisible brands of bearing the scars of being victims of sexual assault and child abuse by powerful males in an organization that is m...

Re: Meaning of Kamtsang

According to Ringu Tulku's "The Ri-me Philosophy of Jamgon Kongtrul the Great" the Kamtsang lineage is the lineage headed by the Karmapas, and has two separate traditions within it. One of those is the Surmang Kagyu which derives its name from Surmang Monastery, which was founded by Ma-se Lodro Rinc...

Re: How to End Samaya?

I just read ChNN's "The Light of the Sun" and the following passage seems relevant: Some people start out with a perfect relationship with their teacher, but later on they lose confidence and start thinking their teacher is no good. This situation produces very heavy karma, and Buddha taught that it...

So, you are insinuating based on this story that it was CTR, as if there aren't any other alcoholic lama's in Asia (there are plenty.) That's quite irresponsible to do. Now, now, SW, let's not disturb Josef's mind with any inconvenient facts. Yes, after all, it is much more important to preserve th...

New York Times just put out an article about the whole affair: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/11/nyregion/shambhala-sexual-misconduct.html I'm curious what teachings the are referring to. The Sakyong is not only another executive or religious leader dethroned by #MeToo, but he is the sole holder o...

Why thank you Josef and you, in turn, can ascribe opinions to Chatral Rinpoche that you don't know him to have held but I suggest that you don't.
I have zero interest in any of your suggestions at this point.

In all seriousness, I think this is one of my better ones.

Re: Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo & Lama Tsultrim Allione: Shambhala's Sakyong Mipham

I think it's clearly referring to Trungpa and Sakyong. I see no reason to believe that. For starters, that story is from something called "The Life Story of the Lord of Refuge" which was published in 2000. My understanding is that it was only in the 2000s that the Sakyong started to drink heavily. ...
