Mipham's "Gateway to Knowledge" is brilliant. Really clear condensation of various topics.

Re: The sense in long rituals for non-Tibetans?

You can read about the purpose of one of these types of pujas in Great Accomplishment by Tulku Urgyen. The abbreviated form of this puja is the one Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche will often do before giving teachings on the nature of mind. It really helps clear the way for things to sink in successful IMHO.

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Here's the full interview. It's...astonishing. Each time you think, nobody could be that stupid, she says something even worse. But at some level, she's just telling the truth. Lots of people in her town have no income and no social safety net. Neither the city nor the major employers, the casinos,...

Getting a 404 error, cannot see link. Can you see this?: https://i.imgur.com/jkKJIx5.mp4 In any case...the difference is, coronavirus is contagious. One person going back to work can spread disease to many others. When things get desperate, the prime directive is the greatest good for the greatest ...

Alan Wallace: Dzogchen, COVID-19 & the prophecy received by Dudjom Lingpa

https://media.sbinstitute.com/courses/dharma-talk/prophecy-received-by-dudjom-lingpa/ Lama Alan begins by explaining that rather than meditation, this session will be devoted to a discussion on the way these Dzogchen practices fit into our particular cultural and historical moment. He mentions that ...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Yes, we are dealing with the most significant social and political event any of us have ever seen in our lifetimes. This can't be overemphasised. This graph shows the impact of the virus on unemployment in the US, so it's not at all surprising people are freaking out about the economy being shut do...

Re: First rate translators in non-English European languages

Jean Luc Achard is a very talented translator into French. https://wisdomexperience.org/content-au ... uc-achard/

Erik Pema Kunzag, Thomas Doctor, and Andreas Doctor are all non-native English speakers, but I don't know if they have published in other languages.

Re: How do you remember teachings when triggered?

I have downloaded the CPTSD book. It's funny you should mention that as I have actually been diagnosed with CPTSD! I haven't been diagnosed but I'm quite certain I have it, though thankfully a minor case. The work of Pete Walker has helped me, anyway. His website is really useful too: http://pete-w...

Re: How do you remember teachings when triggered?

Have you read Pete Walker's book Complex PTSD- From Surviving to Thriving? I think you'll find it very useful. I work on the principle that you have to be mindful and see any triggering of the fight/flight/freeze/fawn response as it appears. It then needs to be recognized as a faulty response based ...

I am also deeply interested in hearing more about the practical side, how he survived without money or clothing except what he was wearing for all those years. I find that absolutely amazing too, going from comfort in the monastery and never being alone to surviving totally alone, self reliant with...

Re: What happened to Jordan Peterson?;

The greatest failure of him was trusting even for a second in the products and "medical " or whatever ethics of "Big Pharma", and relying on their phychopharmaceutical "medicine". This decision destroyed him and medical treatments in Canada and the US were not able to help him. I agree. I'll probab...

As an aside, I emailed as directed on Tuesday to register for James Low’s Zoom talk but haven’t heard back—do you know if you normally need to wait a bit? Don’t want to be impatient but also don’t want to leave it too late :)
I signed up too, but I've heard nothing yet either.

Both James Low and Lama Lena give full dzogchen transmission online in their talks. I've also seen Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche give free streams, open-access on Facebook.

It's from the Tantra of the Sun and Moon. You can find some good info here (see the notes at the bottom): https://www.lotsawahouse.org/words-of-t ... g-of-vajra

You can also find it in the Chokling Tersar's Ngakso drubchen.

Re: Practicing without possibility of physical contact with teacher

Also keep an eye on the schedules of Garchen Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Mingyur Rinpoche, and Tskonyi Rinpoche - all might teach it online at some point, though their schedules have all been impacted for obvious reasons. Edit: Just found out that Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche is giving medit...

Re: Practicing without possibility of physical contact with teacher

Lama Lena, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Alan Wallace, James Low are four lamas who teach Dzogchen online. There will be others. James is in fact doing it next Wednesday via Zoom: https://www.simplybeing.co.uk/events/ I honestly think that it's a brilliant time to be a student of Dzogchen. It is widely a...
