Re: Backwards Ati

He seems to be referring to the notion of Guru Yoga being unstoppable. He's speaking about the Mahaguru, at the essence of this. It's not about the person who you consider the Guru... Once you contact bodhichitta your mindstream is changed forever. There is no longer a choice about anything. While ...

Re: Backwards Ati

Again, Trungpa Rinpoche gave his students TGS transmission when we entered into the vajrayāna, and therefore his students would usually be on an emotional roller coaster throughout the four ngöndro practices. I think that’s because of the disruptive quality of the TGS transmission itself Guru yoga ...

Re: If the bad times are coming, what to do?

Following the Fukushima meltdown, I can't get on board with more nuclear energy. The full impact of that tragedy is not being recognized. The incidence of certain cancers has spiked in Kanto. Some suburbs of Tokyo that were directly downwind - people basically have given up growing vegetables in th...

Re: empowerment for Dudjom Tersar Ngondro

When I asked at Saraha, a few people said I could practice it with no anything. But then others say one needs the lung. I suspect it was one of those "get it when you can but you can practice without it if you can't" type things...but I would rather just have the lung. I had an opportunity to get i...

And then there is the waste, which would be an ethical challenge even in an ideal, nonexisting, accident-free world.
We could pay the Chinese to send it to the dark side of the moon.
Or politely ask the aliens on Mars to eat it.

Re: If the bad times are coming, what to do?

I'm with the authors of Drawdown on this one - it's likely to be a part of the solution but one with regrets, unlike renewables or, in fact, nearly all of the other parts of the solution. I do not think it solves much, to be honest. It ties in neatly to, and therefore solidifies and perpetrates, th...

Try to dispel the myths surrounding nuclear energy that persist among the population. It is a big [and a necessary] step
We disagree here, and greatly so.

Re: If the bad times are coming, what to do?

In terms of merit in the world, one should also take into account the consumption of merit through over-indulgence. Everything we consume is the result of merit. So we can slow down the exhaustion of merit by consuming less. Once Choje Rinpoche was in a men's room with His Teacher Sog-tshe Rinpoche...

If the bad times are coming, what to do?

Split from https://dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=27705 The reason I say this is because, in my opinion, he was clearly a realized person, I never doubted this. But he might be trying to teach us some other lesson than "you guys aren't good enough for the likes of me". ;) Well, maybe we aren'...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I have a question regarding some experiences around ati guru yoga, including unexpected shifts in waking state perception and activity in the channels, etc. Specifically, my practice has been focused on the Guruyoga of the White A, with the invocation of Garab Dorje and Song of the Vajra. I wish Ri...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

For someone like me, who met ChNN Rinpoche and received pointing out several times, but has not received all transmissions nor participated in the SMS program.. where does the DC go from here on? Is the SMS still available as a path? Could I ever progress to practicing Togal and/or Yangti for examp...

Re: DJKR letter to Aung San Suu Kyi

The opinion piece you posted above was a response to it. And, apparently, DKR has posted it as well a on his facebook page in support of his own letter. The opinion piece was interesting too (which is why I reproduced it), though it looks like nobody bothered to read it... I read it and it clearly ...

Re: DJKR letter to Aung San Suu Kyi

The way DJKR repeatedly rambles about the West shows clearly the schism he has in mind, a pattern positioning "his kind" as good or victimized, "the other" as bad and perpetrating. It doesn't matter how much of this is right or not. He is a lineage holder and protector of the Dharma. These actions ...

It is charming how the author managed to erase both climate changes in particular and all ecological concerns in general from the picture. Impressive.

That is worth considering as well. I have always assumed she is not blackmailed into silence. I understand that her life is no longer in danger -- but this does not mean that she is not being forced to remain silent. Oh, I wouldn't assume that! The Greek Junta lasted from 167-1974 but there are sti...

She spent a total of 15 years under house arrest by the Burmese junta and this in spite of the fact that the party she is the leader of (the National League for Democracy) holding almost the absolute majority of the contested seats in the Burmese parliament. Now she has been "free" since 2010 and t...

Re: DJKR letter to Aung San Suu Kyi

Disgusting. You don't like the letter? Why, pray tell? No time to really discuss it in depth (and it does deserve in-depth discussions) but... it is a vitriolic, rambling piece that confuses lots of issues and, as most things DJKR has recently posted, obscures so much more than it reveals. I am the...
