Re: How Does One Purify the Five Heinous Crimes in Sutra?
It is from a priest named Kosai who was a disciple of Honen. He taught single recitation rebirth in the pure land which i strongly believe in. My recent development though has been based on no practice. I still haven't dared a day without reciting at least one nembutsu but by now all should be done ...

Try it in your native language.
"Jag tar tillflykt i Amitabha Buddha. Det oändliga ljusets Tathāgata som översköljer dom tio riktningarna."
For example.

PS: However, excluse me, I just realized this is the Dzogchen forum, therefore the correct view is simply non-contrived, and to remain in that, assuming no position. I dream of dzogchen and we are all supposed to learn from each other so i don't mind seeing different schools etc talking to each oth...

Re: Five Heinous Crimes = Samaya Breaker ?
Of course. Can you explain why? It seems as if the basic ones are the foundation and samaya is extra. Why is the pyramid upside down so to speak? It would seem that a basic vow not to kill is heavier than let's say a vow not to eat garlic. But theoretically eating garlic can be worse than eating me...

Indeed. Besides, why would someone like Lord Buddha who achieved supreme happiness sit in a hazy daze?

No, the Buddha did NOT get stoned. But non decarbed hemp (non heated because it is the heat that causes bioavailability and gets you stoned) is still useable as an anti inflammatory medicine and for immune system toning. It was and is used in Asia and India still to this day.

Re: Five Heinous Crimes = Samaya Breaker ?
Wonder why they're called samaya then. The mystery gains density..
But you're basically saying that higher samaya is worse to break than the basic precepts? Is it possible to "do a Shinran and Honen" and become a pure land buddhist having taken samaya?

Re: Five Heinous Crimes = Samaya Breaker ?
Honen was a tendai monk so didn't have samaya, because if I understand it correctly tendai only practice the lower tantras. I see. Shingon has samaya, though? Only the lower tantras were transmitted to Japan, the only commitments they would have would be practice commitments but I don't know how wi...

They both lost faith in vajrayana and obviously abandoned their samaya but were still saved by the grace of Amida. They did not have samaya in highest yoga tantras since it never existed in Japan. I think i read in "The weaving of mantra" that Shingon entails samaya. I got them mixed up t...

They both lost faith in vajrayana and obviously abandoned their samaya but were still saved by the grace of Amida. To myself it's a question of pride. Not letting go of old pats on the back related to my past vajrayana practice. Like there is something promising about my life but still it all turns...
