Re: Mipham's Shower of Blessings

Lama Dawa Chodrak gives an empowerment for this sadhana. However, He and many other Lamas allow students to practice this sadhana without empowerment (at least in a group setting, such as for 10th-day tshog). Like many Lamas, if one wants this empowerment from Lama Dawa, one has to formally ask tha...

Terton Gyalse Rinpoche

I follow some Dudjom tersar fb pages and a lama by the name of Pemaköd Gyalse Rinpoche has been mentioned as leading a kilaya drubchen and a throma tsokbum in India. In other places he has been reffered to as Terton Gyalse Rinpoche. The way these fb pages phoneticize His name is super inconsistent. ...

The all pervasive lamp of wisdom

Garchen Rinpoche wrote a commentary on Garab Dorje's three statements called the "The all pervasive lamp of wisdom: A commentary on the three statements of Dzogchen" The Garchen Institute Webstore no longer stocks it. Does anybody know where to get a hold of it?

Re: Retreats in

Great responses so far. One thing I’ll add is that with the tremendous varieties of practices in the scope of Tibetan Buddhism there are various forms of retreat. So for example, there’s the Chod retreat where you visit 108 specific cemeteries, or 108 wrathful elemental places, etc. In this case th...

Re: Dzogchen Community & Yungdrung

I was just listening to Alejandro Chaoul on the Wisdom Podcast and he talks about how he studied both in the Bon tradition and with ChNN. https://learn.wisdompubs.org/podcast/ It's a very nice interview. For those who have not or do not plant to listen to interview, he actually says ChNN was the on...

Benchen Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche. They have actually been simultranslating his teachings on the Ganges Mahamudra. http://rywiki.tsadra.org/index.php/Sangye_Nyenpa_Rinpoche https://kagyu.org/kyabje-sangye-nyenpa-rinpoche/ Awesome, thank you. How can I access the simultranslation? This was the link tha...

Re: Kagyu Monlam live on FB- who is this lama?

I've been tuning into the live cast of the Kagyu Monlam on FB a little for the last couple of days, around 8pm Mountain Time- I don't speak Tibetan, who is this lama teaching? Not the Karmapa, he's maybe late 50's, wears glasses... ...Robes, shaved head... Benchen Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche. They have ...

Very interesting! I don't know if shughendo is explicitly buddhist ,but I certainly noticed some symbols common with indo-tibetan vajrayana (malas and bells namely).

Re: Anguta Sutra

I have very little information about this sutra; it is referenced in Thinley Norbu Rinpoche's autobiograpghy "A Brief Fantasy History of a Himalayan". He includes a qoute from the sutra which discusses the romantic appeal of women to men and vice versa. This seemed like a somewhat unique topic for a...

Issues with 8 classes

Some time ago, a dear family member of mine spent some time consuming hallucinogenic plants under the care of a South American shaman. Ever since then, his behavior has been extremely erratic and he has essentially jumped from cult-like religious organization to cult-like self help group to self-app...

Qualifications of a Lama

So, I have read some books (WoMPT and various other ngondro commentaries) that speak to the characteristics and learning that a qualified lama should have. Nonetheless, I still feel mystified when trying to discern the qualities of famous lamas. It seems difficult to determine how somebody is if you...

Also the names of these Nyingma Rinpochees are important to know. Thanks Nyingmapa hats - 00.jpg They are not necessarily monastic hats. Not all...

Do you think that this is party line for both sides? Or is just what Beru Khyentse R hopes will be beneficial at the present time?
I don't know.
