Re: Information about Bodhisattvas and other Buddhist teachings

I actually like ritual quite a bit and find it helps ground the practice in my life, but the book goes into some simpler ritual practices to honor various Bodhisattvas that wouldn't be overly involved or difficult to do privately. Since my home altar I set up already has Kuan Yin and the Medicine B...

Flimsy.

Spent most of February of this year in hospital and started work on this as soon as I got out.

One of my icons, nice to see her and especially hear those mellifluous one liners again! Her version of 'my old flame' is a knockout

Re: Information about Bodhisattvas and other Buddhist teachings

It also makes me think I'm in the right place at the zendo because I would be uncomfortable participating in some of the more devotional paths described Come to a similar conclusion, I'm not keen on too much formalised ritual. Thanks to Kirtu for the quotes, love the one about trying to disrupt tha...

Re: Shobogenzo Recommendations

Kazuaki Tanahashi has translated the whole thing, along with others, Shambala have brought out a nice two volume edition I notice, it's a bit pricey though, depends on the depth of your pockets! If your pockets are limited, like mine, Enlightenment Unfolds is brilliant :broke:

'the true Dharma eye:Zen Master Dogen' s three hundred Koans' translated by John Daido Loori Roshi is excellent.

Re: One path or two

Teilhard de Chardin's theory of Cosmogenesis is beautiful but not very convincing. When you look at all the variables that have come together to form our existence or even make it possible, climate, oxygen content of atmosphere etc, it's just astonishing that we are here at all! I for one am glad we...

Great to see this, thank you for posting it, a real meeting of creative minds! His translations of Dogen are also a work of art and his book 'making love with light' truly sublime.

Re: Information about Bodhisattvas and other Buddhist teachings

Great thread and information, I'm Zen but also have a fondness for certain Bodhisattvas and mantras which has made me feel a bit odd at times, this makes me feel much better about it. Thank you :D

Hello all!

I'm Dawn, live in the UK. I did a fine art degree and post grad in History of art in London, tutored for a few years and now live in a very quiet part of Ireland, which is great for my meditation practice, Zazen up until now but am developing a growing interest in Tibetan Buddhism, and thought this ...
