Re: LN Ngondro requirements

As someone who doesn't know much about Nyingma I wonder why such questions are posed online instead of addressing directly the teacher or the students of the teacher who gave the practice. Whenever I saw such practice-concerning questions online the answers differed widely even within the same trad...

Re: LN Ngondro requirements

I received a surprise lung for the LN Ngondro During a weekend of teachings last year. The guru yoga section of the sadhana the lama read from contained a self-generation of Vajrayogini: https://www.lotsawahouse.org/tibetan-masters/dodrupchen-I/longchen-nyingtik Do I need a Vajrayogini empowerment ...

Re: Practicing without possibility of physical contact with teacher

Lama Lena is giving a teaching on May 1 on FB which will include pointing out (as per usual) I believe. No fee, just Dana - so no problem. After that you can watch/listen to her and Lama Wangdor’s teachings on her website. So just “join” or “follow” (or whatever the term is) The Lama Lena Teachings ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

For the time being, though, it does seem that he is not offering to lead those who had transmission from ChNN. Therefore talk of him leading the whole DC community is at best way too early to be meaningful. I agree it’s too early to speculate meaningfully about Yeshi’s plans, but I don’t know if I ...

Re: It is supposed to be simple and easy

Its easy as long as we’re naturally not-distracted, without effort, judgements, striving or cultivation. Speaking for myself though, it’s easier for me to get distracted than almost anything else.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Apparently there are three people who Rinpoche gave permission to transmit dzogchen:his son, his daughter and a guy in China. A person i met recently, who had some first hand information, mentioned that he heard Rinpoche’s daughter saying that she will be happy to give transmission in the future bu...

You have not understood my point. If I thought that rephrasing it would help I would.. But I don’t think it would help.
If you say so.

Re: What Does Dzogchen Say About It’s Origins?

Ah...you equate myth with fairytale. They are very different. Myth can come from the depths, from the chthonic. From ancient and formative times. To describe something as mythic does not mean that it is unreal, on the contrary it can mean hyper real, energised and powerful. If you assert that myths...

Re: What Does Dzogchen Say About It’s Origins?

Was there some kind of trauma caused by Vajrayana literalists that happened here I’m not aware of? Were you guys threatened with Vajra hell by a dharma bully? Whats with the tude against traditional explanations and narratives? Are you trying to make this place inhospitable to traditional practitio...

Re: What Does Dzogchen Say About It’s Origins?

Thank you Magnus. But I think instead I will check out the words of my first teacher. There is no single model. It’s not a matter of ontology. It’s myths to live by while remembering that they ARE myths. That doesn’t mean that they are lies. Just that they are skillful means. What matters is how we...

Re: Travelling on the sunrays

It kind of went both ways in this thread, no? Some people seemed to be looking down their nose or scoffing or sarcastic or had a tone that if you cared about or had respect for siddhis you are somehow misguided, a pleb, a lightweight that is drawn to shiny things rather than the “real” practice of d...

I think you might be missing my point Dechen Dave. Possibly. Possibly maybe but I’m not sure that my last post demonstrates that. But maybe, possibly. Just so you know that I am not simply a cynic or materialist here is another story from the early days of Samye Ling. CTR and a few of us we...
