Re: What is Bon Shamanism

They worship shiva? How terribly sad!! Nice to know that though, I'll stay away from Bon shamanism and dharma products from countries that are polluted by shiva worship. Dear Lhasa, did Shiva used to bully you in school and steal your lunch money? Anyway, regardless, since you just erased in one fe...

Re: Troma nagmo and rainbow body

So it is said that thirteen of the initial practitioners of the Dudjom troma nagmo sadhana attained rainbow body. And more attained it in the subsequent generation. What makes this mantra/sadhana/deity so special that it can lead to that, as opposed to all other mantras? Can Vajrakila do the same f...

Re: Empowerments are for life?

@TrimePema: I received Dzogchen transmission from my lama and guarded that practice like my life depended on it, since I value my lama and what he gave me. I have strong guru yoga with him. I have not met with him in the last number of years but soon this year will meet with him again. I have had so...

Re: Empowerments are for life?

Send an email to your nearest center and try to speak with someone in person about your situation. I had a similar question and was able to talk to someone over the phone. If your practice had any open components, such as Chenrezig, Tara, or Amitabha, you'll only help matters by reestablishing that...

Re: Empowerments are for life?

I have a question that I have been wondering about. After receiving an empowerment in the Nyingma, is it considered that you have it for the rest of your life even if you drop the practice for a number of years and then later on you decide you want to do it again? So for example, say, an empowermen...

Re: Empowerment needed for tummo in Bon?

Thank you so much for all these amazing resources. I will spend a lot of time on them! But again, just to clarify, the other traditions require a full deity empowerment in order to practice tummo, but in the bon tradition the oral instructions are sufficient and still lead to the same potential for ...

Re: Empowerment needed for tummo?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I’ve also added a post with a similar question in the bon forum since a member here had recommended I do that as quite possibly the bonpos have a different way of doing things. But I should be able to make some informed decisions hopefully here soon. Oh, and as this...

Re: Tongue touching palate in Dzogchen?

In Dzogchen meditation does the tongue have to touch the roof of the mouth, or does it simply not matter? I won’t be able to see my lama for a while so I thought to ask here. I am kind of not paying too much attention to it for right now, just letting the tongue just do what feels right. It depends...

Re: gaze/open eyes/closed eyes

In a book by sogyal Rinpoche on Dzogchen he says that for togyal one has to have the eyes open, so therefore for trekchod one practices that as well. It’s kind of like training for what you will need eventually. My interpretation that I get from that is that with trekchod one could theoretically clo...

Empowerment needed for tummo in Bon?

I am considering attending the tummo retreat this summer with Tenzin Wangyal Rimpoche. It appears that no empowerment for the tummo practice itself will be given. In the Bon tradition is an empowerment needed to practice and attain results in tummo? In the other Tibetan traditions an empowerment is ...

Empowerment needed for tummo?

I have a question. I am contemplating attending one of Tulku Lobsang s tummo retreats which are offered publicly. Another option is the retreat this year with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. I emailed the secretary of an upcoming Tulku Lobsang tummo retreat and was told no empowerment will be given for tum...
