Eight Verses of Training the Mind translation

I'm looking for an accurate translation of Eight Verses of Training the Mind by Geshe Langri Thangpa in Portuguese or at least in Spanish. Could anyone help me? It seems that there are many differences among translations in Latin languages. I would also appreciate if you share the English translatio...

Re: Thoughts in Samatha Meditation

Can someone give Samatha (mindfulness of breathing) instructions? And also, how to deal with thoughts included. It has been very helpful for me to watch Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche's instruction and advice on meditation for begginners in these talks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6aST9ibFNU https...

"Book Guru"?

I'm a begginer in Buddhism from Brazil. For now I've had teachings only from books, online lectures, group discussions and retreats with Lama Padma Samten's students. (Padma Samten is a Lama from Brazil that has a great student's web that allows those study groups and small retreats to happen under ...

Re: Emotions = suffering?

Thank you a lot Wayfarer :anjali: For what it’s worth, there’s a Lion’s Roar article by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche on The Four Seals which explains we he says that ‘all emotions are painful’. After the section explaining that, there are two Q&A’s: Question: Is compassion an emotion? Answer: People l...

Re: Help in recitation for beginners

Hi, Mariel. I also chant as my primary method, although Amitabha's name. Some things that have helped over the years. 1. Take time occasionally to read sutras or teachings about the method and associated buddha. Lama Zopa Rinpoche has some nice teachings on "om mani peme hung", and Lama Yeshe. Boka...

Because it seems he is not talking only about strong feelings and passion. He includes love, softy and kindy feelings, balanced emotions.

Re: Emotions = suffering?

Thank you! Forgive me if it seems repetitive, but I'll try to explain my doubts (again, English is not my mother language  ): I'm reading DJKR's What makes you not a buddhist after watching his wonderful "Hinamudra" :quoteunquote: teachings. Although I've been admiring and trying to contempl...

Help in recitation for beginners

Does anyone have a tip, text, lecture etc. to share about how to generate the correct mind while reciting?
When I'm contemplating the aspiration to generate bodhicitta, I often try to recite Om Mani Padme Hum, but then I get distracted and self-centered... Any suggestions?
Thank you very much!

Emotions = suffering?

(English is not my first language, so forgive any mistakes.) In the Four Seals, it is said that all emotions are suffering. Am I wrong to interpret that this sentence simply means that duality is suffering? What about bodissatva's love and compassion beyond duality? What about relative bodichitta? A...

Hello and thanks

It's strange to introduce myself, since I am dealing with the idea that there is no "myself." But there is no "there is no", right? Well, my name is Mariel and I'm 25 years old. English is not my first language (I'm Brazilian), so I'm sorry for any mistake. Last five years I've been studying and pra...
