Re: Chakrasamvara initiation fundraiser...

First, I would like to clarify some things. On the fundraiser page, it mentioned that only seven lamas have the authority to give this initiation. This is certainly not the case, since Heruka Five deity (I assume Ghantapa tradition) is one of the most popular forms of Heruka practice in the Gelug l...

Re: Chakrasamvara initiation fundraiser...

There are many lama visiting Malaysia every year. There are also many lama visiting for example Taiwan every year. If you couldn't get the fund to visit the Netherlands in the end (it appears that you are still far from your goal. And 3000 euros is not a small amount to most of people), try to wait...

Re: Rebirth as a ubhatovyanjañaka and paṇḍaka

The suffering of a gay man is to experience the mental sufferings of a woman in a man's body. Because gay men do think like women. Science has proven this. Oh really? Sources? References? oh hey, here you go http://www.theguardian.com/science/2008/jun/16/neuroscience.psychology" onclick="window.ope...

Re: Rebirth as a ubhatovyanjañaka and paṇḍaka

I'm gonna just say that my conclusion to this term (which i have observed and inferred from the various texts where the term appears) is that it dosent refer to complex homosexuals but rather anyone with a non vanilla sexual fetish. In other words, the correct term for this is sexual deviant as the ...

Re: "Protecting" Society from Critical Thinkers

remebering that everyone thinks they're right and that everyone operates within their own perception of reality does help. And work around that. That is what I do too. In Buddhist terms, remembering that everyone is in reality equal and want the same things, just that what they want is slightly diff...

Re: Holy objects

Hi everybody, I am currently looking into tibetan buddhism due to watching some videos of ven. robina courtin. I love her rational and practical approach which is in total contrast to what I thought about this mystical and very ritualistic kind of buddhism. Nevertheless I am struggling with all the...

Re: mantra for schizophrenia

In my own experience, mantras can help to stabilize the mind but it wont help a lot. Guru Rinpoche helps the most as well as Tara. You can try Feeding Your Demons meditation from Tsultrim Allione with a qualified therapist though, that works quite well for schizophrenia. I find that it works very we...

Re: Teacher as Buddha?

I am not too sure about this view, but from what I understand it is that the Guru takes over the role of a Samyaksambuddha for us and provides tailored advice to our needs and thus it is appropriate to view the Guru as the Buddha, as one would have observed how the Buddha gives tailored advice to hi...

Re: Tarot as divination tool

So Buddhists should never read worldly books such as biographies of influential people, real crime stories, politics, business... ? Frankly, I read quite a lot of biographies and find people like Presidents Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon just as interesting as 'more edifying' lives like Milarepa....

Re: Tarot as divination tool

okay i need to hit the brakes and do some explanation here: i have very powerful intuition already and it is usually accurate but sometimes it comes in a mass of complex info that can be hard for me to decipher. Thus, a material is needed for me to see what this energy means. I know that Mo uses the...

Tarot as divination tool

Okay this is going to be a weird question. I have the ability to use tarot cards to take a peek into decision making situations, the same way how some Lamas use Mo divination. How do I get the cards 'initialized' in a Buddhist way? I rarely use the cards except when my intuition (which is very stron...

Re: Dzongsar Khyentse on the importance of Mahayana

I think this was taken out of context. the base for Vajrayana is Mahayana and without Mahayana Vajrayana becomes nothing nore than a set of rituals. I feel he is referring tothose who go straight for the surface of Vajrayana like intiations that bestow power and money instead of the actual core teac...

Re: Question for Esoteric Buddhists

This is for Esoteric Buddhists, those of you who follow Vajrayana, be it Tibetan or Shingon or other sects. In your school there are secret Dharma teachings that only the initiated can receive from a Guru. My question is, how does your tradition interpret these passages from the Nikayas: Three thin...

Re: Doubt, Vajrasattva, etc.

Therefore it seems to me now that doubt arises in entanglement of fixated thoughts as reaction on things not going well or not like expected. :anjali: Yeah, that is totally what is going on with me. I did have a pretty strong goal for practice. That's how I tend to do things. If I don't have an ext...

Re: Healing from abuse vs holding "Self" as precious

Hi there, I'm also sort of a victim of abuse, it happened once and was a sexual nature, and it happened at a very young age so i do have an idea of how you're feeling here. After many years of trying to "fix" myself with Dharma methods, and reconciling the very question that you have here (yes it' w...

Re: Question on Guru Rinpoche initiation

Nyingmapas don't usually categorize with the term HYT. We prefer to use the terms Mahayoga, Anuyoga and Dzogchen. The 'requirements' are not presented the same way either. In any case it is equivalent to HYT. In short yes, it's HYT. Guru Rinpoche recommended praying to him on the 10th and 25th luna...
