Re: Shingon?

They have the Maha Vairochana (Sarvavid) lineage, which is Yoga tantra, the empowerment of which confers tantric vows, etc.

Re: Experiences with Chödpa Kunzang Dorjee?

He's a lovely guy and a devoted student of Lama Wangdu. I remember him doing his ngondro in retreat at a house in Pharping 12 years back, from then he received lots of teachings and put lots of retreat time in. He has a passion for what he is doing and doesn't pretend to be anything. He knows his st...

Vajravali

This may be a dumb question so apologies in advance.

If one receives a wang from Vajravali, in this case 32 deity Akshobyavajra Guhyasamaja, can one practice the Nagarjuna lineage with the appropriate sadhana lung? Or does it come from the same place?

Re: Torzay

Or you could just use a little of the three whites and three sweets, or alcohol and nectar pill depending on the tormas you're making. At least that's what I've been taught. Well they are standard ingredients for tormas that will be eaten. Torzay, however is rather more specialized and a LOT more c...

Re: Vajrapani Bhutadamara (recently granted by HE Ngor Thartse Khen Rinpoche)

Hi, it's HYT. Generally the first retreat one does in Sakya, and done often before starting ngondro practices or ley rung retreats. Yes, you're right the principle big guns in Sakya and Ngor are Phurba and Vajrabhairava. These have elaborate med ley rites and completion stages whereas I don't think ...

Re: Missing 1st day of Wangchen

If we've already received a wangchen can we attend day 2 if we've missed the preparation day? I know we can if we've already received the Wang for that particular mandala, but what about if we haven't received the Wang for a different mandala? Missed day 1 of Jinasagara today with HHDL because of t...

Re: If I’m Nyingma and take HYT empowerment with Gelug?

If you take an empowerment with commitments you should keep the commitments the vajramaster gives, otherwise you're not honouring the vajramaster, especially with HYT where you have a samaya relationship. The 6 session guru yoga is good for anyone as it helps them to be mindful of their tantric vows...

Re: Dudjom Sangye Pema Shepa Rinpoche's parinirvana

Rinpoche had no history of illness? That is what is say in the official statement. /magnus A friend just went for a hernia op and in the preliminary tests was found to have critically high BP and damage to his heart because of this long term condition. He thought he was perfectly healthy - no sympt...

Re: Dharma Protectors of HYT

As Malcolm pointed out, you can self-generate as a supramundane protector, providing you have the right transmission. The 8 deity Mahakala in Sakya, for example, is front-generation; there are empowerments for Dorje Gur (from Bari Lotsawa for example) where you definitely self-generate as the Protec...

Re: Western-Born (English) Tibetan Buddhist Teachers Like Alan Wallace

You might look into Jhampa Shaneman. He is located in Mexico, but I believe he does have an online teaching presence at one of the FPMT centers there. Shaun :namaste: I second that. One of the best I've had the privilege of receiving initiations and teachings from, among all my lamas including Tibe...

Re: HE Jhado Rinpoche teachings in CA

Had a power outage last night which meant I missed the first day of the Kunrig wangchen. My understanding is that, if one has received it before (I did in the Sakya tradition a few times) one can miss the prep day and join in on the second day. Anyone heard the same? Maybe Malcolm will know. I assum...

Re: HE Jhado Rinpoche teachings in CA

Hi I was also present at the jenangs but didn't get either correctly as the translator wasn't very clear during the lung. If anyone could PM the mantra(s) that'd be awesome. It says that you have disabled your pm capabilities. Shaun :namaste: Hi Shaun, Whoops! I changed the settings so hopefully ca...

To think that instructions on using a phurba could be so easy lololol Clearly few posting here (save Malcolm) has any teaching / experience of the medlei. It's just a game for you guys. Let's dress up as wizards and play with magic knives, without understanding what is done or what it means. Kali yu...

Re: Time taken for short sadhana for Vajra Nairatmya & Vajrayogini

It's Naropa's Dakini. Timings depend on how long you accumulate mantras / practice completion . Short sadhana is easily done within 5-10 mins if you're quick. Long sadhana can be done in less than 20. First you have to do the 2 or 3 month retreat and accumulate 444,000 mantras using long sadhana. Af...

I'm sure, given his being an actual Translator of many years' standing, thus fluent in the language, there must be a reason (or maybe none).

Re: Jhampa Shaneman

He's 100% legit.

Did a 3 year retreat on Vajrabhairava, and was given permission to give wangs by HHDL. He wrote the best commentary on Yamantaka that I've ever read.
