Re: How to End Samaya?

It just does not add up, what am I missing? The Vajrayana drags you to buddhahood in a handful of lifetimes at most if a mininum of proper conduct is maintained. I understand that, but I am not satisfied because it seems very limiting, restrictive, and apathetic. It just doesn't fit with what I fee...

Re: Symptoms Before Vajra Hell

Im told by malcolm that suicide also can lead to vajra hell. I dont know what kind of symptoms indicate your going to hell, but ive had visionary experiences of hell beings progressing with detoration of my mental and psychical health, so i definitely feel like im on a downward trajectory.

Re: Vajra Hell

AFAIK Vajra hell is a special feature of Vajrayana - only practitioners who break samaya in ways gruelling enough to go there can end up in the vajra hells, which is below even avici (although I believe there are some who say that it is more like an aspect of the avici hells). What could be such a ...

Re: Karmic consequences of suicide in the tibetan tradition

In Adeu Rinpoche's book "Freedom in Bondage" He mentions cases of Lama's choosing to leave the body and not rainbow body style. It does not go into detail how they did it but they did choose to leave the body under the extreme conditions of a chinese prison. Yeah, Im just talking about ordinary del...

Re: Karmic consequences of suicide in the tibetan tradition

Isn't murdering someone else much worse than killing yourself? Not if you practice Vajrayana. Do you think everything is just play with a bell and and instruments? If you are a Tibetan Buddhist, you must not be passive. You should balance your energies and increase your lungta so things go well. Yo...

Re: Karmic consequences of suicide in the tibetan tradition

What are the karmic consequences of suicide in the tibetan tradition? Garchen Rinpoche on suicide: There is no greater negativity than committing suicide–one creates a very powerful cause of intense suffering by taking one’s own life. You must understand that all suffering has its seat in the self-...

Re: Karmic consequences of suicide in the tibetan tradition

What are the karmic consequences of suicide in the tibetan tradition? You won't attain liberation when you die (in most cases), which means you will suffer in samsara. You won't further your path by doing it. You will likely go to the one of the three lower realms (probably hell, maybe vajra hell w...

Its a much less sadistic form of terror though than inflicting harm on others.
It is nevertheless a deluded act, just like strapping on a vest and pushing the button.
Deluded act on what level?

Re: Respect for the cultural differences of Western Muslims

Not to mention the open violence being inflicted upon Muslims in many Christians countries. You talked as if I deny the role of US foreign policies. I did not. By your argument, we should expect Tibetans to be terrorizing cities in China with suicide bombing and other acts of terror. Self immolatio...

I'm going to an event with a Dzogchen teacher tomorrow. I know the teaching will be related to The Flight of the Garuda, but beyond that I don't know anything. More to the point, I don't know if they're going to give direct introduction during the event. If they suddenly give direct introduction ha...

:spy: I think that if someone has to see magical powers to reflect on his life and to try to practice his mind to be less of a hindrance to others, then this is exactly the person NOT to show those powers to. :anjali: Do you not think nihilists would seriously reconsider their paradigme if they wit...
