Re: What is the point of visualization?

What is the point of visualization? Particularly when practicing dream yoga, focusing on a white "A" at the throat area. What is the purpose of this? Is it solely to stay focused and present while falling to sleep? Task: Look on a white "A". Implement this task for a while. Recognice: To " practice...

Re: How do I know when to start shikantaza?

Ive been practicing meditation for about 9 months now. how do I know when ive developed enough concentration to stop following the breath and begin shikantaza? You do not need "concentration" to simply sit, you need to understand the uncontrived difference between "practicing" simply sitting and si...

Re: Suzuki Posture

Roshi Shunryu Suzuki said to "push your diaphragm down toward your hatha" I don't understand how to do this. does this mean to flex my stomach muscles? To actually implement the task "simply sit", has nothing to do with "postures". To focus on the task "simply sit" .. and "remaining in that" (»prac...

Stop the meditate. Stop to "practice" simply sitting .. and simply sit. To "practice" simply sitting is just like "thinking about it".

If you "practice" simply sitting instead of simply sitting, it doesn't "uproot the defilements".

If you "focus" on that with your consciousness, your insight is just the expression of craving.

That's because you're "practicing" simply sitting instead of simply sitting. You misunderstand resp. ...

Re: To breath or not to breath

Same in this thread. The sectarians have only fear for their sect. But this is not necessary and only expresses the lack of understanding of their own practice. Recognicing ones own »practiced imlementation« resp. »conceptual reification« of the task and therefore recognicing »an« subjective »simply...

Next time I sit and drink my tea I'll ponder over your wisdom. Exactly, »actual« simply sitting is synonymouse to »actual« acting normal; primordial-unfabricated resp. primordial-uncontrived. But don't think, »..so..there is nothing to do« or »..so.. I behave myself completely natural« or »..so..I ...

There are exactly two ways to implement tasks like this. Shikantaza has nothing to do with »practiced implementation«. Practice...
