Re: Local Protectors

Yeah I remember seeing this too. Now I might be completely wrong or misheard (this was some years back...), but I was under the impression that Guan Gong was even identified with a local protector from Tsurphu. I do know that the short text from His Holiness is available to Chinese students, I've al...

Re: Local Protectors

I don't know exactly but I recall hearing that HH Karmapa had some pure vision of Guan Gong and wrote a short offering to him as a Dharma protector.

Re: Hey from Wyoming

I lived in Jackson for a summer (dunno if that counts as living in Wyoming haha) and it seems like every summer, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche and other Lamas from Tulku Urgyen's family and lineage pass through there. Though I know it's a huge state, and if you're hours away from Jackson,...

Re: Kamtsang Chöd Lüjin - How to Open the Sky Door?

Something I thought of later, is that Lama Karma Drodul, Rinpoche's nephew, is very accessible if you know where to find him on Facebook or email. He has always been very helpful to me answering questions, and you can rest assured that his words carry Khenpo Karthar's intentions.

Re: Kamtsang Chöd Lüjin - How to Open the Sky Door?

Cone is absolutely right. I should have added that this is one example of a practice that every Kamtsang lama I've met that requires wang , lung and tri.

Re: Kamtsang Chöd Lüjin - How to Open the Sky Door?

As I recall, while Lama Sarah's book is wonderful it would provide more general info in this case. Garden of all joy is quite Specific. I've been practicing this sadhana since I was a teenager. I have a rough idea of how we do it. Good luck.

Re: Kamtsang Chöd Lüjin - How to Open the Sky Door?

You should try and find either Lama Lodu or Tenga Rinpoche's commentary of _The Garden of All Joy_ by Jamgon Kongtrul. It has explicit instructions in the Lujin of Surmang Chod. Of course Lama Lodu specifies that one must have the proper empowerment before reading it. The Kamtsang chod is surely one...

Re: Dharma Ink, Buddhist Tattoos

Jinpa la, Like you, I have heard the entire spectrum of responses from 'not a big deal' to 'end of the world'. As far as I can tell, most of the reasoning against tattoos stems from either one interpretation of the samaya to not harm the body, or from Tibetan cultural ideas. A Tibetan doctor once to...

Re: East Bay - White Tara and Vajrayogini with Jetsun Kushok

I'm curious, and perhaps Malcolm or Kirtu could shed some light on this, but is the Uncommon White Tara given by Jetsun Kusho la the same as the White Tara initiation that HE Dagmo Kusho Sakya in Seattle gives from time to time? Or are there multiple White Taras in Sakya lineage? Thank you so much f...

King's Tradition Chenrezig

Hi, I was wondering about the lineage of the King's Tradition/Gyalpo Lug Chenrezig Empowerment that HH Sakya Trizin gave in several places on his last visit to the US. It appears to come from King Trisong Deutsen, so is this actually another practice from Kama that the Sakya have upheld (like Phurba...

Re: Garchen Rinpoche Live Webcast 12-30, 12-31

Indeed. I started to mentally complain when the video started to cut out, then I realized I was watching one of my gurus giving a precious teaching 1500 miles away on my computer. As Rinpoche repeatedly said via emails in the days leading up, this is all a matter of faith, devotion and intention. I ...

Kurukulle/13 Golden Dharmas Question

What, if any, difference is there between the Kurukulle listed in the '3 great red ones' and the one listed in the '3 small red ones'...I'm a bit confused.
Much thanks!

Interesting, and thank you. Is it connected in any way to Chokgyur Lingpa's Padma Dakini/Kurukulle? Pardon an ignorant question.

Kurukulle

does anyone know anything about the tradition of Kurukulle that comes through Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo? ie it's origins, is it from terma or from an earlier Sakya source?
Much thanks.
