Re: Ole Nydahl´s sectarian meltdown

Correct! Although Ole advices his students to stick to one lineage, he has indeed recieved transmissions from several lineages himself. Many positive and negative opinions are possible on that matter, but I feel no need to go into that right now. Here is what he said himself about the subject of pho...

Agreed! No matter your perspective, he deserves a lot of credit for his courage.
I'm actually surprised the Buddhist corner of the internet hasn't exploded yet with some of the statements made here.

Karmapa OTR is not happy, speaks out

This is an amazing speech by Karmapa Orgyen Trinley, speaking out about so many things, I don't even know where to start.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

As usual, I'm amazed at the clarity of his transmission. Beyond anything. He truly is my Guru in that sense. And yet, as usual, I'm unsure how to continue in the Dzogchen Community. I practice the Short Tun, have met the small local sangha, and I know the SMS program exists. But really, what is the ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Hello, I had some indications it might be a good idea to do vajrapani practice. Is it possible to do it the same way as it is done in thun with simhamukha and guru dragphur? Please pm me if this info is too sensitive. Yes. In the old short thun, Vajrapani was main male deity practice. Why the change?

Re: Chogyal Rinpoche

Thanks guys, Yeah his bio seems to indicate Rumtek and Repa Tsultrim. Those are great on any tulku bio of course. However, I can't seem to find who is rootlama is, who authorized him to teach, etc. He has a repa program for the West, which is quite interesting. I like his ideas about teaching the es...

Chogyal Rinpoche

Hey guys,

Does anyone know Chogyal Rinpoche (http://chogyalrinpoche.org/) ? And is, or isn't, he endorsed by other lamas and lineage holders in the Karma Kagyu lineage?

Thank you,

Re: 3 year retreat vs Daily life practice

Just want to add that indeed most people who did 3 year retreat that I spoke to, consider it to be more like a school than a retreat. You spend all the time going through many different practices at a very high pace. Ironically, it's very stressful for many of them. Not relaxing at all. The system o...

Won't even be able to find the outer guru anymore

The Guru Drinks Bourbon, by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse, page 12 wrote:Therefore, the outer guru is necessary until you at least have the gist of the inner and secret gurus. When you realize the inner and secret gurus, you won't even be able to find the outer guru anymore.
Won't even be able to find the outer guru anymore? Can anyone explain that statement?

Re: Incarnation of Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche discovered!

Having received teachings and empowerment from the late Tenga Rinpoche, I can only feel joy if such a being returns. What I see here, just like in most cases of tulkus, is a kid that's being completely overwhelmed by what's happening (1:22). Not sure if I can appreciate this way of dealing with tulk...

Re: Are namtars meant to be read like Aesop's Fables?

Peter Alan Roberts wrote a book about how these texts have changed through the centuries. How they are to be seen as inspiring, and not necessarily as historically accurate. He uses Rechungpa (!) as the main example, but also discusses what happened to Milarepa's biographies in the process. Highly r...

Re: Root Lama versus Dzogchen transmission

That's why we have ChNN. I have considered this statement, in it's various forms, to be rather annoying through the years. Dharma spam from the DC, so to speak. I have however come to understand it is actually true, and he is quite unique. At some point you may find a teacher whose mere image, or t...

Wisdom Pubs has insane shipping rates to Europe, and Wisdom Books has ceased to exist. So, I ordered it from amazon.de for 24,70 including shipping. Seems to be the best option right now, for those interested.

Also, free bump for the book :namaste:

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Can anyone explain to me why, within the context of Dzogchen and the DC specifically, the practice of Shitro is so significant? I am of course aware of it's relation to Bardo teachings, the dying proces, how the peaceful and wrathful deities represent our whole being, etc. But somehow there seems to...
