Re: How do you experience PL?

believe or not believe, that say in Kalama Sutta: The Kalama Sutta states: Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing, nor upon tradition, nor upon rumor, nor upon what is in a scripture, nor upon surmise, nor upon an axiom, nor upon specious reasoning, nor upon a bias towards a notio...

Re: How do you experience PL?

Sinwey, what do you mean by "and from what I learn about Lotus sutra, there are some teachings that are too difficult to be spoken to arhats. until now those teachings that are still sealed are those from Vajrayāna, and what slowly been revealed are Mahayana teachings." ? - the teachings hard to te...

Re: How do you experience PL?

We know that Pure Land sutras were not spoken by historical Buddha, neither any of the Mahayana sutras, as far as we know. Almost all academic agreed on this. no, I know/believe it's spoken by historical Buddha, if not I won't be here in Pureland Mahayana Forum and practicing it. I believe from thi...

Re: Can nienfo be a type of (beneficial) meditation as well?

in term of calmness, if you do felt calm, then that mean, the mind is not so wandering already. think the key is still to have trust in Amitabha himself for that life for the best benefit. as for benefit in reciting while having wandering thoughts, indeed as Lotus Sutra stated: Even if a person who ...

Re: Can nienfo be a type of (beneficial) meditation as well?

Noble Eightfold Path:- Right Meditation Meditation means the gradual process of training the mind to focus on a single object and to remain fixed upon the object without wavering. Re: Heavens in Pure Land?

So according to this classification, Sukhavati is classified as "The Land Where All Equally Reside". Our world is part of the same classification. Sukhavati should be inconceivable. all 4 Lands are also included in Sukhavati. and as Mind seal indicates it Unique to Amitabha PL: We must realize that...

Re: Heavens in Pure Land?

I agreed that it's conventional/phenomenal mean than ultimate/noumenon mean/level. to say that there's heavenly beings in the Land of Common Residence of Beings and Saints is also conventional/phenomenal mean. so there's heavenly beings as a conventional mean. I learn from Pureland Master Chin Kung ...

Re: Heavens in Pure Land?

There are four kinds Lands/Abodes of PL: 1) Pure Abode of Good people and good Saints living together 凡圣同居土, more for people and heavenly beings. 2) Pure Temporary Abode with residue of Not Knowing 方便有余土, more for Arahants. 3) Pure Abode of Permanent Reward 实报无障碍土, more for Bodhisattvas. 4) Pure Ab...

Re: My vision of Pure Land

for me it's the Mindground, everywhere. as long as when the mind is pure, the land is pure. even the hell realm is Pureland to Earth Store Bodhisattva. as he do not feel the hell realms' suffering. totally without discrimination. and totally dwelling in emptiness and state of pure mind. Of course, ...

If I find myself in hell, I'll appeal to the dude preaching the Dharma. :) well, Though Buddha(or Earth Store for that matter) is the "highest" enlightened beings with unconceivable spiritual power, he is unable to do the following: 1. to eliminate or change the karmic retribution 2. to cro...

Re: My vision of Pure Land

it's not easy to explain Pureland state/realm. Pureland can be inside or outside samsara or neither. One for example Buddha can be standing with us, human being in samsara, yet He can be inside Pureland while we are in samsara. we also cannot say He is not in samsara, as He is standing right next to...

Re: Heavens in Pure Land?

If there are heavens in Pure Land, then it's inside Samsara and Triple Realm. Heavens are part of Triple Realm, also Pure Abodes. Our world is part of Desire Realm, other heavens are there too, but also, there are Formless Realm and Form Realms. All of them part of samsara, subject to birth and dea...

Re: Nirvana in Chinese pure land

not mean they experience Nirvanic Bliss they must be Buddhas. Bodhisattvas also can experience. all beings in Amitabha Pureland experience it. there is only one "official" Buddha in Amitabha Pureland and that is Amitabha Buddha . as Avalokitasvara is a Bodhisattva/Mahasattva and so is Mahasthamaprap...

If, when I attain Buddhahood, bodhisattvas in the Buddha-lands of other quarters who visit my land should not ultimately and unfailingly reach the Stage of Becoming a Buddha after One More Life, may I not attain Perfect Enlightenment.
