Re: Please pray for my friends.

Bill was in surgery for 14 hours on Wednesday. He is doing well. He is still hooked up to some machines, but he is now sitting up on his own and today he ate some soup. Thank you all for your prayers and chants!

Please pray for my friends.

My friends Bill and Suz in Michigan are having a difficult time. Bill will be having open-heart surgery before the end of September. Suz has been on long-term medications which, it turns out, have damaged her kidneys and they are now only at 20% of their normal function. She is now off all her kidne...

Re: two of the most important stories media wont report on

Alex Jones traffics in rumor, speculation, and conspiracy theory more than in substantiated fact. He's like Art Bell but with less humor and fewer aliens.

Re: Richard Dawkins : "I will Arrest Pope XVI"

The Catholic Church is not a child-abuse network and the Pope is grappling with these issues (with some obvious criticism) apparently as best he can. If in fact he covered up cases in Germany abusing his power as a Cardinal (or Arch Bishop - I can't remember which) then this will further sully the ...

Re: Richard Dawkins : "I will Arrest Pope XVI"

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article7094310.ece RICHARD DAWKINS, the atheist campaigner, is planning a legal ambush to have the Pope arrested during his state visit to Britain “for crimes against humanity”. A formerly well-respected scientist goes off the deep-end. Kirt Extreme ac...

Re: WOMEN ONLY PLEASE!

I simply cannot accept that Buddha, given what we know of him, would have been inclined to treat women as badly as has been alleged. Since it is well-known that the written teachings of several of the world's religions were edited by misogynists in their respective clergies years after the founders ...

Re: What do you use to protect your computer?

If you are using Windows, Comodo's free AV and firewall suite is very good. http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You should also install AdAware and SpyBot Search & Destroy, which are programs that find and remove malware. Use both, because each one find...

Catmoon, I'm glad your cat is better and that you are rebuilding your finances. Ronnewmexico, you are making some extraordinarily sweeping generalizations and speaking for vast groups of people I suspect you are either not a member of or have very little experience with. Not all theists favor the de...

Re: Euthanasia and the 1st Precept

A few years ago, one of my cats developed feline diabetes and kidney disease simultaneously. The vet and I spoke at length about the options. One of the options was treatment, which would have required daily shots and pills for the cat, but was only prolonging the inevitable and would have resulted ...

I voted Other. I don't like being intoxicated by any substance, and I have not been intoxicated in over twenty years. I do sometimes enjoy a single glass of beer with a good dinner, and at weddings or on New Year's I'll drink a toast with a single glass of champagne. So while I don't abstain from al...
