Re: Chogyal Namkhai Norbu books and so forth?

The only books that are necessary to mention on a public forum are his public books. And as such I think "The Crystal and the Way of Light: Sutra, Tantra, and Dzogchen" is well worth a mention. Very good book that goes to the essence of the teachings.

Re: Amazon links are bugged

It's not a bug, you just need to use the URL-Tag, like this http://www.amazon.com/Miphams-Beacon-Certainty-Illuminating-Perfection/dp/0861711572 then it works: http://www.amazon.com/Miphams-Beacon-Certainty-Illuminating-Perfection/dp/0861711572 It has not been the case that you needed to...

Amazon links are bugged

There is this problem, where Amazon links turn invisible: http://www.amazon.com/Miphams-Beacon-Certainty-Illuminating-Perfection/dp/0861711572 The above link will now not show in this post (and is replaced by a lot of space - it is still in the post but you have to quote my post to see it). However,...

Re: An Interesting Book to share

Your link does not appear in your post. Edit: I copypasted the Amazon URL, and I got nothing showing up in my post as well. Seems to be a DW bug. I'm splitting the URL so that it will be visible (copy URL without space after the dot): https://www.amazon. com/Tibetan-Zen-Discovering-Lost-Tradition/dp...

Re: Rabbit's Horns

We disagree. It is not a question of agreement or disagreement, it is a question of basic definitions which come from Abhidharma. The question of whether space and cessations were existents was settled a thousand years before Tsongkhapa. The only way one can argue that space and cessations are exis...

Re: Assisted Suicide/ euthanasia

I've wondered how it's viewed from a Buddhist standpoint. I'm pretty sure it's a no-no... Correct - as Buddha in the Sutta-Nipata put it: Laying aside violence toward all living creatures, both the firm & unfirm in the world, one should not kill a living being, nor have it killed, nor condone killi...

Well M, all I can say is, thank you for your final pronouncement on Zhiyi. In all seriousness, hopefully Jikai will be able to lead the discussion on Mohezhikuan as planned and you will join us. It was not a final pronouncement, since I rather doubt all of Tien tai thought can be reduced to this sl...

Re: The DJKR Topic

smcj, If you want to understand guru yoga, then you should receive teachings on this from a qualified teacher. Merely reading books will not do it I'm afraid. I live in a Karma Kagyu monastery. I’ve specifically asked about GY from the resident retreat master for the 3 year retreats. Is there somet...

Mantrik,

Please edit and remove that second line of yours. It's highly inauspicious to utter such things.

If Rinpoche will come for the Worldwide Transmission to the Gönpa, please be aware of His delicate health situation. We request you - not to come to personal contact with Him, leave the space in front empty and sit more in the distance. It is recommended to use respiratory mask for people who are c...

Good answer, Magnus. But, if it's Naga sang , then only on Lu-theb days when the Nagas are amenable to offerings. Otherwise, it will actually create problems with the Nagas. If it's Riwo Sangchod or some other general sang-chod, then every day or whenever you want, most typically in the morning, an...

His post from earlier today on facebook is perhaps his most repellent statement yet. The last one was hard to beat. What was the post? I cannot find it. Re: The concept of the teacher’s “blessings”

The Heart of Compassion: The Thirty-seven Verses on the Practice of a Bodhisattva by Dilgo Khyentse So here the context is the five powers, and "faith" is the first. However, not all teachers uses the English term "faith" for this first point. Chogyal Namkhai Norbu presents it as "Participation". A...

Re: Tantric Liberation, Padmasambhava and Bonpos, etc.

Passivity is the Hinayāna attitude. HHDL is both a pacifist and political leader. As the leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the 14th Dalai Lama says he practices compassion to such an extent that he tries to avoid swatting mosquitoes "when my mood is good and there is no danger of malaria," sometimes watc...
