Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

What are the requirements to be able to read the Precious Vase? I want to use it to get into the preliminaries in a deeper sense. My 2 cents: Though others may say otherwise ( and I respect their right to do so) I do not feel there is any requirement to have a Direct Introduction before reading the...

Did Rinpoche teach and transmit all of his Longsal terma or was there still more? Have his senior students, like Adriano Clemente, received all of them?

DS
No there were more Longsal teachings that Rinpoche had received, but had not yet transmitted. I don't know if Adriano have received them.

I am glad I made it. I just got back and I have to say that it was, as usual, a highly informative and entertaining talk by Malcolm.

Kevin...
That it was.

Quite wonderful talk!

Re: Guru Rinpoche As...

please show me where Adzom Drukpa said ANYTHING like the tigress is Ati Muwer. ChNN tells the story in his transmissions. Show me where it’s contradicted. LOL. Nice try. :rolling: At this point I wonder if what you're doing here is trying to waste everybody's time? Dudjom Rinpoche himself could pro...

Re: Guru Rinpoche As...

I think we should treat the claim with care. I don't. He is my guru. he was a terton. YMMV. He maintained the same point of view from 1992 when I first heard this, to the only time he ever taught Drollo, a few years ago. It's a shame that nobody asked for more information on this point since 1992. ...

Re: Guru Rinpoche As...

What is the problem with the tigress being the Bon deity? You are the one perceiving it as a humiliation, that does not mean it is humiliating in the first place. In other explanations it is his own consort. It is not a servant or something like that. Guess you miss the core of the discussion here....

Re: Guru Rinpoche As...

[snip] Of course you won't accept it, but so what? In Bön, Ati Muwer never manifested as a tigress. That is fine. Outside of Bön, according to one version of this story in relation to Dorje Drollo, Ati Muwer did. You don't need to accept this, just recognize that this is one of the ways the tigress...

Re: Guru Rinpoche As...

Like stated earlier this Bön Dharma Protector was never outside the Bön Tree of Refuge / subdued / converted etc. The one(s) who proclaimed that this would be the tigress of Guru Rinpoche was wrong. But it's really quite irrelevant what Bön thinks. What matters here is what is presented in the trad...

Seems like there are different versions of the explanation of Dorje Drolo's tigress mount. " No doubt. Here's a discussion from a Bhutanese perspective. https://somkinga.wordpress.com/2014/07/27/who-is-the-tigress-in-the-lair-a-preliminary-enquiry-about-khandro-yeshe-tshogyels-visit-to-taktsang/ Re...

Re: Guru Rinpoche As...

sorry. I was just interested in finding a textual source for the rather unique claim. Are you saying Adzom Drukpa's terma is a source because I've not seen that bit. I don't know if the source is from his cycle, it's large, and I don't read Tibetan. ChNN did not mention what the source was. So I do...

Re: Guru Rinpoche As...

Not according to anything I've ever seen. I think Samten Lingpa was clear the tigress (definitely female not male, unlike Bon sky god) is Tashi Chidren, one of the five main consorts of Guru Rinpoche. Do have a textual source for that claim? It's explained in the text TEACHINGS ON THE PRACTICE OF D...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Jamyang Norbu reminisces about ChNN: Sometime in the mid-eighties Namkhai Norbu visited my uncle Rakra Trulku at the Pestalozzi Children’s Village in Switzerland. During their after-dinner conversation Namkhai Norbu asked my uncle if he would like to experience a “mirror divination” (tib. tra-pab)....

Try Lojong and Bodhicitta.

Without Bodhicitta, mantras are useless anyways.

Since questioning SS Publications's wisdom is so heinous I'll leave it to those who clearly know much more about such things: The request for silence refers only to posting memorials and so on of CHNN's passing. It has nothing to do with the normal day to day business of the gars. They are still ru...

Footnote 580 in chapter 40 (The Praise) says that, “The innumerable sentient beings of the six realms of samsara are innate seeds within one’s heart center.” Hmm, that is very interesting.
