I like this interpretation, also. It's simple and it makes sense, ...

I've heard that it took the Buddha 100,000 aeons to attain Samyaksambodhi. Is this true?

Re: Buddha Nature
Quiet Heart: Yeah, that's very similar to how it was explained to me while practicing Zen. And my teacher did a good job of not making the concept too complicated, which I appreciated.
Thanks for posting the poem, it's very insightful.

Please let me apologize again (as I did on another thread) for neglecting this conversation. It wasn't intentional.
I greatly appreciate all of the helpful advice and links/book recommendations given. I checked out many of the links, but I still haven't been able to secure books. Hopefully soon.

Hey everyone,
Please allow me to apologize for neglecting this thread for so long. It wasn't intentional.
Looks like my question was answered and then some, haha. Great conversation even though I have a lot to learn before I can understand all of it.

Can anyone recommend a very simple, straight-forward practice schedule? Like, what did you do when you first started (as far as devotion prayers, visualizations, meditation, tonglen, etc). There are many ways to do this, but here is one suggestion: Morning: -Do shinay for 20 to 30 minutes followed ...

Hello all, Some of you may know me as Dhammakid from the Dhamma Wheel forum. I was also Dharmakid on ES ( :crying: ). I currently am studying Theravada, but I've been back and forth between it and Zen ever since I first came across the Dharma nearly four years ago. I always think I'm settling in, bu...

Do different Mahayana schools teach them differently? Buddha-datu = 如来蔵 Tathagatagarba = 佛性 Just messin' with ya' (I don't know Ch...

Hello All, Great to be here. As a Theravada practitioner who once practiced Zen (and still attends zazen sessions and zen dharma talks on campus since it's the most convenient sangha for me), I often have questions concerning Mahayana teachings and concepts. A question I currently have concerns Budd...
