Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Hello everyone! I know, long time no see, but I was wondering if anyone could either explain here or in pm what exactly the teachings are about this weekend I'd really appreciate it. I just started school again this week and everything is a bit jumbled! :juggling:

Re: Do centipedes have any significance in Tibetan Buddhism?

I used the google books page and looked at Beer's encyclopedia of Tibetan Buddhist symbols and it said that lizards, toads, centipedes or spiders, scorpion, and snake represent the five poisons of ignorance, desire, hatred, jealousy, and pride (Beer, pg 75).

Re: What is a benefit of chanting in Tibetan?

I memorized my lineage prayer and most of my chod verses. I'm also trying with my yidam practice, but I always seem to have a hard time with memorizing the last parts! All in all it's a handful of pages, nothing too fancy! Well, I know by memory lineage prayers and supplications too. But I ...

Re: What is a benefit of chanting in Tibetan?

For me I enjoy chanting in the Tibetan so much more than reading through in English! Like practitioner said, the melodies really make a difference from just reading the English out loud; especially because the ones I do are long melodies. I find that when I do my practices in Tibetan I can focus mu...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Thank you Blue Garuda and Old Bob for replying to me! When I got up and chatted with my husband I found out that today I wouldn't actually end up being able to attened the retreat, even if I got the information today because our schedule changed again. But I am looking forward to the other, open ret...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I already sent a small note over to Blue Garuda about this, but thought it would hurt to ask here too; but do you guys think there is a way to get a membership set up and going soon enough to do the retreat things this week? I know it's super late in the game here and I did already email the webcast...

I'm a first timer also! Will we be able to use that book even though there are sections we won't receive teachings for?

Thank you very much! I'm glad that I've been able to talk to you guys and read your comments or else I'd be pretty lost! It has also really helped me feel motivated to attend.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Sorry for being such a noobie, but the Hawaii retreat is open and anyone can attend correct? I've been pretty interested in these teachings and I would love to hear more and I have the time.

I think Lama Jinpa is psychic. I had just finished doing my practices and I had realized that I need to practice playing my drum and I saw this! I'm glad I watched it.

Re: Strange question... my lizard and Buddhism

Hello! When I was looking into getting a crested gecko and I was researching their diet many people suggested this product: http://www.pangeareptile.com/store/crested-gecko-diet.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Many breeders that I read about mainly fed their geckos this+crickets...

Re: Urgyen Samten Ling - legit?

I've lurked a lot but had to respond to this! I live south of here (abt an hr away) and I have really enjoyed my few visits. I wanted to attend the classes but I simply don't have the time and driving in the snow scares me...
