Re: Buddhism on God

The main flaw I see in the Abrahamic God-as-creator argument is that it is based on an inaccurate view of how things are. If a God created the universe then it would be finished. No new planets or stars would be forming (which they are), and the formation of those which exist would be complete. But...

Re: Buddhist ethics and BDSM?

The precepts are designed to guide our actions until we develop the insight to act in a wholesome way intrinsically. Actions can be evaluated based upon the criteria : Do they further awareness?, Do they further Compassion? If they do then the follow up question is Do they lead to insight? It is in...

Re: Buddhist ethics and BDSM?

There do exist animals that do have sex of the violent sort, perhaps cats may be a example and perhaps in the extreem are black widow spiders whose females devour the male in sexual act. Pretty neat system! ;) Without divulging too much information about myself, I will say that I know a bit about t...

Re: Buddhist ethics and BDSM?

The only sexual practice that is forbidden Tibetan Buddhism is Anal sex . And ONLY because in Tibet where showers are not common and cleanliness is important having a bunch of monks walking around constantly in bad need of a shower is just well inconvenient , plus the sickness and general unhealth w...

Re: Kalu Rinpoche shocking news!

Having read the article he sounds very young. Talking about living a good life by chasing money and saying "Samsara is beautiful". Doesn't he have any older wiser friends? I can say he will think completely differently when he is 40. I have no idea about his credentials but are you sure he is the r...

Re: Kalu Rinpoche shocking news!

Good for him for giving the world a reality check about what the monastic system is really like. Namkhai Norbu's son says in the film "My Reincarnation" that the reason his father refused to send him to a monastery was because of all the abuse his father suffered as a child. A Western tulku says in...
