it doesn't look old - it seems very new - a so called "tourist-thangka"
wrong colors, rough / coarse painting style, distorted account/appearance, wrong mudras, etc
compare it with authentic zhitro-thangkas at himalayan-art f.e.

the late Gendun Rinpoche, who teached in Dordogne, France was asked a similar question
and he said you should give money - even when you know the beggar use it for alcohol, etc.

i never really "liked" this answer

A lama of mine (Tulku Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche, grandson of Dudjom Rinpoche) echoed the advice in the original post, which is that when there is dharma being displayed on the device, treat it as a dharmic object. Otherwise, treat it as a mundane object. I think this is good and sane practical advice. ...

Who is approachable to just talk to and ask for thögal instructions? I had no idea that was even possible. I would have thought you would need to have reasonably complete and very lineage-specific empowerments, lungs, guidance etc and in most cases have completed tantric ngondro and so on. No? Thog...

If on a tab, or laptop: dharma-Scriptures, Sadhanas & Mantras, etc. have to be burned when you do not need them any longer.... :mrgreen:
or hang 5 phones with mantras on a string and call them Digitas (digital lungtas)

Nope. He does not doubt his existence. He clearly wrote that existence of dharma is enough for a proof. Instead this is somewhat similar to the whole "good Bönpo Padmasambhava" vs "bad anti-Bönpo Padmasambhava" spiel. Now I understand why Malcolm wrote it would be hard for someone to practice both ...

but.....
for a vajrayana-practitioner the whole world should be a pure realm,
then there is no impure, or unclean area anywhere
