Re: Dharma Wheel Heavy Weights

It is not relevant to discussions here. Maybe not, but you're a semi-famous person, especially in the Buddhist scene, have written some books, done translations, so if not a "public" person per se, something pretty close where someone might want to write a bio / wikipedia article, amazon.com bio, e...

I don't. No. No.
Okay, cool. So you make a living doing Tibetan medicine practice? Clients/patients see you or is it all online?
Nope, not that either.
Okay, then what is it? Or would you rather not say?

I study Dzogchen. I practice Dzogchen. I translate ancient texts of Dzogchen. I take breaks for food, coffee, wine, sex, sleep, and tv.
How do you make a living? Do you earn income from the translations? Do you make income from teaching? (just curious)

Re: Nun's ordination

I just got my copy of the current issue of Tricycle and in it there is an article that the Tibetan Buddhist tradition has revived the nuns ordination: https://tricycle.org/magazine/recently-bodhi-tree/ I thought there already were some fully ordained Tibetan Buddhist nuns? Or perhaps this is a more ...

Re: Zen Forum International status

We have our Zen sections here, which I see are picking up a little. I might be able to host another site, if time permits, to allow a Zen-only forum, if necessary. Are there some advantages of posting in a Zen only forum, rather than something more pan-Dharma like this site? Is it that those from ot...

Re: Introduction (and in need of some advice)

As others have noted, you could do both. You can both go for the academic degree(s) and do the practice too. The academic part will give you a better understanding of the doctrines, concepts, history, etc which can definitely be an aid to practice. As far as career opportunities, I think those will ...

Zen rocks in the desert

Some Zen style rocks, painted bright colors in the desert of Nevada just south of Las Vegas. https://vitalvegas.com/seven-magic-mountains-sculpture-adds-splash-of-color-to-desert-near-las-vegas/ https://vitalvegas.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/seven_magic_mountains6.jpg Each boulder is about 20 tons

Re: Socialism & Communism

I think a return to the Ricardian ideas of separating rentier income from the actual economy would be a wonderful tonic for our current ills. Assholes making money while they sleep from mountains of inherited capital is not production. They are parasites on the real economy and should be taxed out ...

Do you have a backup of the site? If not, check with your web hoster; it is possible they have one.

I see you're in Santa Rosa; glad to see you made it safely through the recent fires.

Re: Zen Forum International

No need to reinvent the wheel (pun intended); the East Asian forum here has over 30,000 posts so far and includes all major forms of Zen. And we're all up to date with the SSL security certificates (see lock symbol in your browser). Just start posting away; don't make me get out the keisaku. :jedi: ...
