Re: Can you see the A?

Yep! Those are the only "Hebrew" words I know. Actually, you know much more, but just didn't realize it until now when I tell you some more: Amen Hallelujah Satan Sabbath (although pronounced a little different as Shabbat in hebrew) All of the above are originally hebrew words, but adopted and used...

See the first character of the second word in the hebrew (right to left); it's the aleph, same as the picture. א

I think religion does matter in fact when was the last time a non Christian was elected potus. These two do not have a chance imo.Sadly. Actually, you're right, I think I wrote that with too much PC in mind. Religion does matter, but shouldn't be the sole criteria, I should have said. Religion matt...

Her family lived in Berkeley, California, where both of her parents attended graduate school.[9] She was extremely close to...

Re: Signing Off

Sorry to see Malcolm go. Sounds like the end of an era. He has been a mainstay for several years. Just an FYI for all the members here, as most of you know I am the site-owner, but don't get involved in moderating decisions as I am not an expert on Mahayana and not familiar with most of the Mahayana...

The story of the compassionate ship captain: http://venyifa.blogspot.com/2008/09/story-of-compassionate-ships-captain.html The Iraq War was not justified however, imo. Unfortunately, soldiers don't get to decide which wars they fight in. My father served in the Vietnam War, but was always opposed to...

Re: Tulsi Gabbard

I've been a fan of Gabbard for a while. POC and women are having a moment in politics. She checks both categories. You can't discount appearance for a position like president - she's attractive. Its an indeterminate quality, but can be used to advantage to magnify messaging - see Sarah Palin, AOC. ...

Tulsi Gabbard

Tulsi Gabbard has announced she will run for POTUS, 2020. Gabbard has spoken about growing up as a mixed-race girl in a multicultural and multireligious household: her father is of Samoan and European ancestry and an active lector at his Catholic church, but also enjoys practicing mantra meditation...

Re: About lists (Path)

Here is my compendium of lists, mostly from Pali Canon, but also lots of overlaps with Mahayana too: https://dhammawiki.com/index.php/Category:Buddha%27s_Lists Okay. So I tried to buy a copy and the cheapest I found was $95.00 used. Yeah, those re-sellers are not supposed to do that, but unfortunat...

Re: Breaking the law = bad karma?

Most civil rights leaders had an arrest record, sit-ins, marches, being in "whites only" places, etc. I don't think anyone (normal) would say that earned them any bad karma.
