Re: Do Admins/Mods have access to read our PMs?

Mods have access to PMs. No, they don't, read the whole thread, including my post. Any forum has the potential to read the PMs, but in all cases it can only be done so by accessing that part of the server. It is not in the forum, directly, it is not accessible by any moderator or admin that way. It...

Re: Do Admins/Mods have access to read our PMs?

Regular mods do not have access to member pm's unless they are shared with us. I am pretty sure there are levels of admin permission that would enable access to all content on the site. PC or Mr. Snyder would need to answer this. That said, as a general rule, don't consider anything on the internet...

Re: New Tax Plan is a war on the Disabled, Poor, and a Boon to the Rich, Corperations, and Foreign Trade partners of the

For the sake of the country, I hope everything will be alright, but I'm concerned about the corporate tax rate going from 35% to 21%. I hope corporations use the extra net funds for further growth, but I'm afraid they just might use it for bigger salaries and bonuses for the upper management, execut...

Re: winning the lottery...???

Has anyone here ever won the lottery? How? It depends on the game and the number of balls used in the machine and the range of numbers, but in general the odds of winning a lottery jackpot grand prize are about one in 200 million. So even if we had 2 million members here at DW, odds would be more l...

Santa Muerte es buena. Ex-convicts and addicts have found inspiration with their spiritual practice with veneration of her, so I think it's pretty cool, if it helps people.

Re: The Only Capitol of Israel

What people may find confusing is that AFAIK, it is mostly the Old City of Jerusalem (East Jerusalem) that is disputed, not the entire city. The embassies you mentioned above are not in the Old City, are they? Having an embassy in the disputed territory implies that you recognise its annexation, bu...

Re: The Only Capitol of Israel

I lived in Jerusalem for 2 years during high school years, learned Hebrew, some Arabic. I could have sworn that when I rode my bicycle almost daily to the Old City where the holy sites are, that I passed by several embassies of various nations, but it turns out only Bolivia and Paraguay have embassi...

Re: "Believe nothing unless..." quote

How can you talk/discuss about something that was never said? Is Malcolm the only one who gets it? As I said, it's a bad paraphrase, but it appears to be based off of the Kalama Sutta, which is a discourse of the Buddha, from Pali Canon. There is a Mahayana Sutra equivalent: https://suttacentral.ne...

Re: "Believe nothing unless..." quote

It's a paraphrase, although not necessarily a very good one from the Theravada Pali Canon, Kalama Sutta; one translation of the main part from Ven. Soma: "Come, Kalamas. Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing; nor upon tradition; nor upon rumor; nor upon what is in a scripture; no...
