Something that is not fiction. :D

No traditional Buddhist sect, Tibetan or otherwise, considers deities to be fictional.
Well said !
Can’t argue with that! Thanks!

Define "real". It is harder than you think. (And that is a rhetorical question: I don't need an answer to it.)

Re: Do Bodhisattvas and non-historical Buddhas "exist"?

I listened to a Dharma talk by a Buddhist in America who practices a form of Korean Buddhism called Won Buddhism (Circle Buddhism). He was talking about the Heart Sutra and sunyata, and said that Avalokiteshvara is the symbol or "emoji" of compassion. But then Won Buddhism doesn't practice praying ...

Re: The Planet's on F****** Fire says Bill Nye

Could be interesting! :D But can we agree that livestock should be at the very least cut down? I mean there are other problems with it for example the huge amount of dung. Also huge amounts of water and grains going into their feeding. Not to mention the excessive removal of forests and grasslands,...

Re: The Planet's on F****** Fire says Bill Nye

We all know I think attaching other agendas to climate change is problematic. We are not going to agree. So let's leave at that. We know you accuse others of doing that, when all they do is present facts regarding climate change... Stifling discussion of facts about climate change is in no way help...

Re: The Planet's on F****** Fire says Bill Nye

The thing is that by associating the measures climate changes will imply with becoming vegetarian you'll lose more than you gain. Which actual reality has shown to not be happening. Bill Nye himself also disagrees, which is why he talks about it. Vegetarianism is more popular than it ever has been,...

Re: The Planet's on F****** Fire says Bill Nye

If everyone became vegetarian would it help the planet? As far as I can see, yes, definitively. Is this likely to happen in the near future? Not by a long shot. It's unfortunate? It is. If everyone stopped using fossil fuel would it help the planet? As far as I can see, yes, definitively. Is this l...

Re: The Planet's on F****** Fire says Bill Nye

So now you are manipulating information to suit your ends. That's how things start to get messy when other agendas get in the middle of solving the real problem. Yea, and Bill Nye, who is not even a vegetarian himself, is doing the same secret agenda thing. I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. For the...

Re: The Planet's on F****** Fire says Bill Nye

Bill Nye's most active topic isn't "the great vegetarian debate". You really aren't getting my point, are you? Maybe it's my fault. Maybe you are not getting my point, which is it's most certainly a climate change issue. Even Bill Nye agrees to this as his statements in his video prove. Activ...

Not necessarily. Refusing to be drafted and sent off to war, would be against the law. Refusing to go to war certainly would not be making bad karma.

Re: Home self-retreat advice

Home retreats are great. I've done a couple.

a) Get a schedule from a temple retreat, and follow that schedule.

b) no reading, only meditation

c) no courses, no computer, no internet, no phone, only meditation

d) simple breath following is perfect.
