Re: Current status of Rumtek.
Hopefully, both sides can use Rumtek. Buddha didn’t have a “winner takes all” attitude.

Re: Joint Statement of the Two Karmapas
:good: Of course, I understand that everyone is very curious. For me, it was a great joy to hear that a solution to this problem may have been found, which triggered so much hatred, suffering and created various obstacles for this precious lineage. This clearly outweighs the unease resulting from my...

Re: Joint Statement of the Two Karmapas
If the 2 Karmapas can agree on the next Shamarpa, that will be a real cause for rejoicing. I think this Kagyu generation’s lamas can easily do a better job than the last generation did.

Re: Karmapa OTR is not happy, speaks out
I thought it was a very good dharma talk with a refreshing dose of humility. He spoke against thinking of us against them and the need for reconciliation. He said we shouldn’t think about wanting victory for ourselves and defeat for those who oppose us. Sounds like real Buddhism to me.

Re: Karmapa OTR is not happy, speaks out
Wow, he’s very honest. He probably wanted to say more, but I think he said what he could. I’m happy to hear him speak about seeking reconciliation and not taking sides. I hope he finds great happiness and freedom in America.

Re: karmapa dispute and nydahl group
I think DWB appeals to people who are turned off by groups who ask you to follow too many rules (like not eating meat) and dislike formality & hierarchy. I like the Russian & Eastern European DW people better than the Western European followers who idolize Lama Ole too much. I myself prefer ...

I can't criticize this kind of thing. I'd like to be born into the 1% next incarnation.

Re: 17th Karmapa has personal news
I am so happy for the happy couple. Karmapa Thaye Dorje is always so full of joy; it's wonderful for his students. I respect him for not trying to hide his marriage and for announcing his marriage so soon after the private ceremony. He seems to take after the 15th Karmapa.

Re: Jamgon Kongtrul IV "leaves role"
There are many ways to be a good tulku. Obviously, he cares about the environment and wishes to help others by being a doctor. He probably wants to have a good modern education like most of us do/did. I wish him happiness and its causes. Hats off to him.

Re: 35 Buddhas Text by Shamar Rinpoche
It's an interesting book, but it seemed too advanced for me. I am a big fan of Shamarpa's book Path to Awakening, especially these easy to follow instructions on meditation: http://www.elephantjournal.com/2015/04/ ... k-excerpt/

Thanks for the clarifications on robes and monk status. I agree with you and Bo Diddley: You can't judge a book by looking at the cover.

Re: Taiwanese actress says Dzog. Ponlop Rinpoche is husband?
If Ponlop Rinpoche is no longer a monk, why does he still wear robes? It's confusing.

There are many traveling teachers, but Lama Ole doesn't give them fancy titles like Shambhala does. Tibetan teachers also teach at the bigger centers.

Re: Forceful conversion of Drukpa monasteries to Karma Kagyu
In the old days, if your family was wrongly evicted, you went to the newspaper or TV news. Now you post on Facebook, Twitter, etc. It's just a sign of the times. Gyalwang Drukpa seems to be ahead of the curve in using social media.

Re: Forceful conversion of Drukpa monasteries to Karma Kagyu
I've been waiting for people to start blaming the victim. Gyalwang Drukpa clearly doesn't want this controversy. He is responsible for his people who have been forced to leave their temples. This is a war of money. How can he win a war of money with the karma Kagyu? And who cares about whether or no...
