Re: Reasonable things to tattoo

Por Siempre Tattoos in Ensenada is the best tattoo parlor I've found this side of the border. You can see their page on FB. They are talented artists with superb attention to hygiene and they're real pro's. It's the real deal. These guys, right? https://www.facebook.com/porsiempretatuajes/ Yes.

Re: Dzogchen materials not requiring DI?

A Dharma brother talked to me prior to the WWT, and then offered to be with me and stayed on the phone with me during my first webcast which was an immense help actually.

If you could benefit from that... I'm more than happy to pay it forward.

PM me if that might be of interest.

Re: How do you know you're not just making karma worse??

Karma is a difficult one to figure out. For example: My brother died earlier this year and left a heap of debts that my family and I have to pay for. This lead me to wondering: How can I know if this is due to old debts which were accrued by me towards him that I now have to pay for, OR are these n...

Re: How do you know you're not just making karma worse??

Ogyen, you haven't responded to a question on the first page: which vehicle does your post refer to? The only thing I can offer is the dzogchen view. And I am not sure whether I am crossing here a line by trying to help, but alas... Hi, apologies.. life ate up a lot of time lately. Just seeing this...

It's definitely over for your delusion. Ignorance may continue for a few bhumis.

Re: Surprises in Buddhism?

buddhism is just like any other religion. Or, “people are people” as they say. I disagree with the former statement. The latter seems about right. I agree with the former statement because institutional Buddhism IS like any other religion with a need to support itself, its vinaya with resources and...

Re: Reasonable things to tattoo

The amount of money that tattoo cost could have fed a hundred monks for a year Depends on what country you live in... 45 hrs of tattooing cost me the equivalent of about 200USD. I suspect maybe this is an error and you meant 4-5 hrs... unless you got one helluva deal. I had a former thangka artist ...

Re: Quote by ChNNR about Dzogchen and God - where is it from?

Faith as it said in Christianity results in heaven but also the virtues and their results as spoken in the dharma. Its a religion designed to avoid the hells so on that merit alone I think it has its own relative value. Wrong View whether it be Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, voodoo etc produces wrong...

Re: Reasonable things to tattoo

Ogyen Tattoos.jpg Nothing secret here, but it is my core practice (in case I have an accident and get amnesia). 7 line prayer, 100 syllable vajrasattva mantra, song of vajra and some symbolized items in my red seals - one is a stylized yabyum to NOT depict actual union, which is inappropriate, but ...

Re: Dialectical Monism / Emptiness

Glancing at the article, I think it’s a neologism of recent invention. I think Madhyamika is indeed inherently dialectical but I don’t think ‘monistic’ is a good descriptor. I don’t think that Wikipedia article is worth the electrons it’s printed on. Wikipedia articles can be changed by any contrib...

Just a note; sorry for the depressing poems. I'm just writing to vent; and I hope someone out there can relate to the content. Otherwise I am OK. Just dealing with things as they come nowdays.. I'm a poetry geek. I read a lot because it opens a channel in which I can process things that aren't made...

Re: Do we loose our identity when we die?

so, in both cases, do we loose our identity? Yes. Identity is a construct that arises out of the aggregates and the conditioning in the experience of living life that any individual has. Many parts of it change within the course of a lifetime, others remain more fixed (like the hardwiring of the ph...

Interesting article in today's NYT https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/27/health/dna-privacy-golden-state-killer-genealogy.html I thought the police did a brilliant job. DNA evidence can exonerate people as well as convict them. Personally, I think the good outweighs the risks. And in the article it se...
