Is anyone else following this Mandarava retreat? if yes, can someone PM me or write if it's allowed what should be done differently if we don't have pills if I want to do this essential version on my own?

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
How does one break samaya as a Dzogchen practitioner, or specifically as a student of ChNN? I know that teaching secret teachings is one way, what are others? Are the 5 precepts included in samaya?

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe action mantras have specific functions. The action mantras of green Tara come to mind. I believe Rinpoche has said that if you sufficiently chant the main mantra with confidence, action mantras are not necessary. I think he said that because people put too much...

Re: Atomic/Rainbow Body
The Dzogchen approach to developing compassion is not to cultivate compassion through mindfulness and so on, observing how one feels, etc. The Dzogchen approach is based on discovering one's real nature. Once that is discovered, it is impossible not to have compassion for all sentient beings who ar...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Thanks Josef, so to follow up, singing things like the six syllables of Samantabhadra or SoV or vajraguru isn't a problem if someone might hear? You probably didn't mean these but just in case, the mantras in the guruyogas of Padmasambhava (done in medium tun for example) are secret. Yes actually I...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Question about dedicating of merits. Are all merits always dedicated to all sentient beings discovering their real nature, or are the merits for long life practice dedicated to our long life, or long life of the master? Or sometimes dedicated to a specific purpose like in some guardian practice or ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Is there a biography of Rinpoche? The closest to a biography that I know of is an article, Paolo Roberti di Sarsina, "Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche: Dzogchen and Tibetan Tradition From Shang Shung to the West", Religions 2012, 3 163 - 182. The url for Religions is http://www.mdpi.com/jou...

Re: masters of the tradition
Agreed, can't go wrong with following the teachings of ChNN Rinpoche. He gives very practical very accessible teachings. I've noticed that when I feel out of sorts or agitated it's usually because I'm not actually remembering his advice. Then after some hours maybe I'll remember his advice, and look...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
I've bought books from Shang Shung without being a member but had received transmission. I think that is the main point that you have received transmission. I don't know if they have become strict about being a member first, but Rinpoche is very kind and understanding of our financial situations. I ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Depends what you mean by Guruyoga of the white Ah. The CD Jikan posted is really for the invocation of Garab Dorje, which is a great practice, IMO. However, If you are referring to the "ultrashort" practice, the newish Guruyoga book is probably the best source of information. In fact if yo...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
You don't need a lung for the longsal one? Then why did Rinpoche give that specifically saying "Alot of people have been asking for the lung for this." I may be mistaken. What about the self-liberation of six lokas, the one with positions, does Rinpoche give lung for this separately? EDIT:...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Hi all, I was reading through some old posts concerning the various six lokas practices. This is a practice that I am interested in starting right away. I missed the last day of this past retreat where Rinpoche gave a the Longsal Six Lokas lung. I have recieved transmission in the past for a practi...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Just so I have this correct, Rinpoche just gave the lung for the longsal preliminary of the six lokas, but then in the collective practices book, this six lokas practice says it is also from the longsal cycle. Then I know there is another six lokas practice with body positions. Did Rinpoche recieve ...

Re: Causes for liberation
SoV can be shared publicly? This I did not know. But in general yes, I am only referring to things that may be shared publicly. And Rinpoche was talking about sneaking nangdrol into non-practitioners food haha! Regarding that musician, he makes it blatant, I'm more talking about a normal song about ...

Causes for liberation
So I was listening to ChNN's webcast the other day and my wandering mind kept thinking about the different causes for liberation related to the senses. Since there is no Dzogchen without transmission, then beings must find these teachings, and to find the teachings there must be a cause. It seems to...
