Re: Jamgon Ju Mipham transmissions?

Indeed, Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal holds many, if not all, of Mipham's transmissions. In addition to Gesar, I know for sure he has given the short and medium length Manjushri, Vajrapani, White Tara, and others, and of course the reading transmission for Shower of Blessings.

Re: Simplest Most Effective Most Efficient Deity Yoga to Purify Negative Karma

I like doing "Stirring the Depths" or "The Inexpressible Absolute Confession" within the context of Vajrasattva practice, the latter essentially being as much a purification practice as an essentially guru yoga practice; and then I rest in the natural state at the end. And of course ganapuja is an e...

Hope it helps! I'd love to hear your thoughts down the road after you've worked with it a bit.

Re: question on distingushing mind from it's nature

Could be a Mahamudra question too: Once a person begins to have some confidence in distinguishing mind from it's nature, is there any particular point in working with conventional thoughts and appearances in meditation anymore, rather than simply resting in the nature of mind? Is it now time to exa...

Re: Where to start?

I have to second Pema Chophel's point about the principal importance being finding a lama you determine you can trust, feel a connection to, and whose teachings resonate with you. All Vajrayana teachings--whether Nyingma, Kagyu, Sakya, Gelug, or otherwise--are from the Buddha, so all are completely ...

Re: Where to start?

I have been learning and meditating on my own (and I basically know nothing). I am drawn to Nyingma but I am confused about the different lineages within Nyingma and unsure how to find a community. Can anyone help me out with some explanation? (If it matters, I am in northern NJ/NYC). Thanks in adv...

Re: Ethics, sangha, and Dzogchen

This Padmasambhava quote I think is a very challenging one because of its dichotomy: how can you have both the eagle's and the frog's perspective at the same time? I have no response to that but I have confidence that it is possible. It really just means that until one has arrived in total realizat...

From what I can tell, generally speaking, Dzogchen Community as a sangha understands and honors and tried to practice this.
The bolded "tried" above was a typo. I meant to type "tries," but it's too late to be able to edit the original post.

Does the color black for a shawl just call to you, or is it connected to a specific tradition/transmission?

Arupajhana7, Just wanna kinda echo & expand on what a couple others connected to ChNN's community have said: Rinpoche spoke constantly on the need, expectation, and really the samaya we have with each other to respect one another, and treat each other with respect, and to cooperate and collaborate i...

Re: Does Tibetan Buddhism have Metta practice?

Tonglen is an excellent practice for this. The contemplations of lojong are also great. And into the tantric realm, there's the practice of chod. And of course, meditation on Avalokiteshvara (or Chenrezig in Tibetan). Really there are so many practices one could do, coming from different angles. Pro...

Dudjom Tröma Nagmo ngondro

So from what I can tell, the well known concise Tersar ngondro is in the same cycle (Dagnang Yeshe Drelwa) as the Tröma practices and teachings, but I’ve also heard of a so-called Tröma ngondro. Are these distinct ngondro’s? If so, does one typically start with the Tröma one from the start of one pl...

...therefore it is accurate to say that there is nothing, truly nothing. Disagree? That’s the problem with Madhyamaka. Yet appearances do appear. Hence the need for Yogacara. I don't think Madhyamaka denies appearances. If I'm not mistaken, it just prefers not to make much in the way of positive as...

They are sambhogakāya fields, in fact.
Haha now I'm even more in the dark. If they're actually sambhogakaya fields, why are they termed natural nirmanakaya fields? Can you say a little more about them, such as their features and the advantages of rebirth there that are particular to them?

...or a natural nirmanakāya buddhafield. I've heard this term in teachings, and in books, but I've never sought an explanation of precisely what this means. It specifically says "natural" nirmanakaya buddhafield, which would seem to distinguish them from some other kind of nirmanakaya buddhafield. ...

Re: Silent practice in Dzogchen Community - what are the options?

Khemmis, First off, have you informed your cardiologist that the dysrhythmias persist? If they ablated the ectopic areas in your right atrium, and it was successful, I’d think it would be much less of a problem now. Secondly, are you so certain it’s not just that while meditating, reciting mantras a...

Re: Yidam w Togal as dzogrim

In Tröma, Guru is the yidam and the bindu. In other sadhanas, there’s a separate guru yoga. Thanks. Are these other sadhanas typically similar to the ngondro format of guru yoga, or do they tend to be more like ladrup practices where one visualizes oneself as the lama, ie Longchen Nyingtig’s Tigle ...

Re: Yidam w Togal as dzogrim

In Dudjom Tersar, is there a specific guru yoga outside of the ngondro versions that Dzogchen is practiced in, or is Dzogchen typically practiced in the context of the completion stage of yidam practice? Or some other option? In troma, yes. In other dudjom tersar systems, no. Sorry, I'm not clear o...
