Re: Donating one's organs at death

So, I heard back from ChNN Rinpoche about donating my organs at death. I told him, "Giving away my organs to those in need when I die is something I'm strongly attracted to, but since death is an important opportunity for a Dzogchen practitioner, would this disturbance of the body be a mistake?" He...

Re: Vasectomy

Yes, and then eventually you have a Blood clot in your leg and can't even sit cross-legged anymore for any length of time. (Oops. TMI???) Oh sheesh, you developed a DVT, Cone? Being an RN, I’ve occasionally had the passing worry about that as it’s always a concern with my particular patient...

Re: Donating one's organs at death

So how many of you are planning to donate your organs when you die? Not an option for me as I have had cancer. In the UK (and possibly elsewhere) that makes organ or blood donation a no-no. Although I appear to be free of it, medically speaking you are always in remission from cancer. Not cured. Ot...

Re: Vasectomy

Cool, thanks for the input! As an aside, what's the reasoning for such a young age cut-off for consort practice? After 26, your nadis start degenerating, 220 a week or so. Yes, and then eventually you have a Blood clot in your leg and can't even sit cross-legged anymore for any length of time. (Oop...

Re: Donating one's organs at death

I've just contacted Norbu Rinpoche to get his guidance on this. If it seems appropriate to share his answer, I'll let you all know his position.

Re: Vasectomy

Nope. You are too old for sbyor lam anyway, right? sbyor lam is consort practice? I'm only nearing 42, so don't think I'm too old for much, but I'm afraid my wife would not be qualified for it, so not in the plans. Would the procedure affect practices like tummo, done as secondary practices for a D...

Vasectomy

Recently my wife floated the idea of me getting a vasectomy once we've either had our second and last child, or once we've decided we're gonna be one and done. She wasn't insistent, so that's not an issue, and I can't help but sympathize with her position of all other methods of birth control being ...

Donating one's organs at death

In my state, Oregon, USA, one agrees by default to be an organ donor at death when one gets a driver's license; one can, of course, opt out of this if one wants. In general, I'm extremely attracted to participating in this life-saving generosity toward others. But on the other hand, there's the thou...

Re: New Head of Nyingma: Kathok Getse Rinpoche

I've had the great fortune to receive some transmissions from Rinpoche on a couple occasions at Tashi Choling here in S Oregon, and he's always struck me as incredible. I wonder what the likelihood is that we'll see him back here anytime soon, though.

Re: How does one perform Lojong?

Although the sutra Mahayana lojong practices are very, very worthwhile and wonderful, being that this is the Dzogchen sub forum, the recently published translation of Jigme Linga’s Dzogchen lojong seems more appropriate. It’s published as “Steps to the Great Perfection: the Mind-training tradition o...

Re: How does one perform Lojong?

I’m assuming OP is actually talking about the Dzogchen lojong practices, since this is the Dzogchen sub-forum. Those teachings/practices are different than the sutra Mahayana lojong. Is this what you’re referencing, OP?

Re: Thodgal

At the moment, since you are a complete beginner, thogal shouldn't even really be on your radar. If it is applied before trechko has been stabilized it can be useless, or even harmful. I've heard that the Palyul tradition teaches Thogal before Trekcho. Any thoughts on that? It's not exactly what yo...

Re: Question re Nagas

Can someone explain nagas in a bit more concrete terms? I've never given them a ton of thought, mostly just suspended disbelief/belief, as I tend to do with things I cannot see or prove--or disprove. I have given their existence the benefit of the doubt and performed naga practices, though rarely. A...

Re: Kuntu Zangpo

Yes, in Nyingma, Samantabhadra is "adi buddha," and Kuntu Zangpo is simply the Tibetan translation for the Sanskrit words samanta and bhadra. This is pretty common knowledge.
