Re: Rudra

My two roots lamas told us a story once from an anuyoga tantra about a Dzogchen practitioner who took the non existence of good or bad in Dzogchen too literally, and thus forsook the relative for the absolute and went around harming and killing beings and was thus reborn as a powerful Rudra. A tantr...

Yes.
One needs at least the lung. Originally, Thigle Gyachen had no empowerment, but one was composed for it by Khyentse Wangpo.
Thanks, Malcolm. So if Tigle Gyachen originally had no empowerment, does that mean they originally relied on the rigpai tsal wang in Yeshe Lama for the empowerment?

Re: Tigle Gyachen and Yeshe Lama

Thanks, Magnus, but here I’m wondering if one got the opportunity to receive Yeshe Lama before. Tigle Gyachen, does Tigle Gyachen in fact have its own empowerment separate from the rigpai teal wang in Yeshe Lama? In other words, if one receives Yeshe Lama and then wants to practice Tigle Gyachen as ...

Tigle Gyachen and Yeshe Lama

I remember reading somewhere that Tigle Gyachen is connected with Yeshe Lama; can anyone elaborate on that a little? In particular, it’s my impression that TG has its own empowerment separate from those of YL, so I’m assuming that despite receiving YL one would still need to receive the TG wang sepa...

Re: General question re: Nyang Ral's Narag Dongtrug

Thanks a lot! I’ve been getting into this practice a lot lately, so this helps a lot. Yeah, I don’t have it memorized yet, and currently I’m doing it solo, so it’ll be a little clunky, but I’ll make it happen.

Re: General question re: Nyang Ral's Narag Dongtrug

Thanks! Do you mean that prostration(s) is/are done at one particular point, or that one prostration is done every time the text says “I prostrate to [such and such]”? In either case, is a number greater than one prostration done? If you prefer to message me the answer if you feel you need to go int...

General question re: Nyang Ral's Narag Dongtrug

I don't think asking or answering this question is a violation, as it's a very outer, general one. For anyone familiar with this practice, or similar ones from other transmissions, the question is: as the text mentions prostrating before the peaceful and wrathful deities and reciting their names, is...

Re: Mipham Rinpoche's termas

Guess I should've started my search in my own lamas' book store. I forgot about the White Tara and Saraswati sadhanas. I'm wondering what other sadhanas there are, aside from the Shower of Blessings and Buddha Shakyamuni sadhanas, as I'm thinking more of maha-/anuyoga sadhanas here.

Re: Mipham Rinpoche's termas

Yeah, I knew he’d revealed mind terma at least, because I’ve received three of his empowerments for them. I was wondering if all he revealed were mind terma, and either way, how many and what were they? I’ve always felt drawn to Mipham, probably in no small part because my late guru, Khenchen Palden...

Mipham Rinpoche's termas

Anyone know the name and contents of Mipham Rinpoche's terma cycle? The nature of it, ie Sa ter or gong ter, etc?

Re: Extract, Immaculate Confession Tantra, recited by Patrul Rinpoche

A few years ago, Gyatrul Rinpoche's vision of creating hand-held prayer wheels with the Immaculate Confession Tantra inside was realized. I think Vimala may have a few left. It makes a great enhancement to the 4 powers part of Vajrasattva practice.

In our community everybody uses those small bottles which one can buy in a pharmacy.
Not sure what you're referring to, Ayu. Could you post a picture of what you mean?

Re: Alternative to possibly toxic metal kapalas

I'm concerned that commercially available metal kapalas are not food-grade and so they may leach toxins into the amrita to be taken during the "taking the accomplishments" section of the sadhana. Has anyone else who's doing more elaborate sadhana practice had any thoughts about this and come up wit...

Another approach is to place a small vessel of ceramic or glass in it and fill the kapala with rice to hold it in place .
Shortly after I posted this, this occurred as a possible option. Great minds think alike! Thanks for your input.

Sorry for the off-topic question here, but was the Namchö chang chog practice one of the standard lungs Rinpoche gave at the end of each retreat?

Lung always given at time of empowerment?

So of course nowadays I know that yidam practice functions in dependence on not only wang, but also lung and tri. But once upon a time I didn't know that, so if the lung hadn't been given I wouldn't have even known what I was missing, and now I want to practice some of the sadhanas from those early ...

Re: Guru Rinpoche´s leaving of Tibet

I've never heard that he "was forced" to leave, nor that he left before Samye was completed. But even if those things were true, the volume and profundity of transmissions he gave was greater than any Buddhist master before him to visit Tibet, and the establishment of the terma tradition was about a...
