Re: Why is Oral Sex Considered Sexual Misconduct?

I beg to differ. The largest, and in fact for some while the only, centre for Vajrayana in the UK, was almost entirely populated by westerners emulating Tibetans. I was there. Likewise CTR's early centres in the US.. I am not saying that this was not functional. It had a purpose. It was understandab...

Re: Why is Oral Sex Considered Sexual Misconduct?

They might have said this. This hasn't stopped a large number of westerners adopting Tibetan names, dressing as Tibetans in their day to day lives, adopting a Tibetan diet and propagating a highly romanticised view of pre-invasion Tibet. I was one of them. It was a phase I was going through.... The ...

Re: Why is Oral Sex Considered Sexual Misconduct?

Well I only posted here re: the Cabezon book update, however since the thread is coming back to life I’ll cross reference from the WOMPT and sex thread this quote from Malcolm from some time ago: If you are a lay tantric practitioner you need to practice the yoga of passion, perceving yourself as a...

Re: Bodhicitta is fleeting...

Perhaps one problem here is the idea that we can and should 'save' people Matthew. Another way of thinking about Bodhicitta in addition to the usual idea of generating it is to see that it is always available. It is not different from our original mind. So rather than talking about generating Bodhi...

Re: Football World Cup.

Your analysis might be correct. It might just be that the South American game has become outmoded. If that is right they will be forced to concentrate on strategy and team work because the 'dark arts' are no longer tolerated. My own view is that the result is a much more enjoyable spectacle.

Re: Leslie Hays says Akong R kidnapped and tortured SMR

I'm sure you are right.

As I think you know, I take a different view on the Karmapa issue..I think it's far from clear cut, but this is not the time or place to go into that..but I don't doubt for a second Akong Rinpoche's (or Situ Rinpoche's) honesty or sincerity in the matter.

Re: Leslie Hays says Akong R kidnapped and tortured SMR

Just so everybody knows I got the whole Dianna thing from here https://goo.gl/okzgH1 . This is from Akong R's. side http://www.akong.eu/AR_CTR.htm And this is CTR's side https://vajratool.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/the-conmanship-of-akong-tulku-chogyam-trungpa-1977/ I don't know if they have met anyt...

Re: Leslie Hays says Akong R kidnapped and tortured SMR

I am reluctant to give this thread with it's loaded agenda any more oxygen, but it may be worth pointing out vis-a-vis Knotty Veneer's good post that the majority of CTR's American circle would probably have no first hand knowledge of Akong Rinpoche at all. Most of them never visited Samye-Ling and ...

Re: What's the meaning of "life is duhhka"?

Dukkha is a broad concept. The origin of the word refers to sourness..its opposite is sukkha meaning sweet and the origin of our word 'sugar'. Dukkha does not apply only to big things and heavy suffering. ( And incidentally 'suffering' is a poor translation. The real meaning needs to be internalised...

Wait, so what is your view on all of this? What was your point in making this thread? If by "all of this" you mean Hays' statement re Akong R my view is that I don't know what a...

Re: Leslie Hays says Akong R kidnapped and tortured SMR

I honestly finda that hard to believe. This is bit too much. But still shows how f-ing messy the whole situation is. Kinda reminded me of a passage where Dianna says Akong R. bullied her and CTR when they still were in Samye-ling. But still really? This is a horrible mess. I knew Akong Rinpoche for...

Re: Big messages to deplorables ???

In psychonational terms ... America's shadow is coming to light under Donnie. This could be a good thing, there is a huge amount of creative energy in the shadow. Destructive too. Getting in touch with one's shadow is never easy, so we shouldn't expect that. And it's dangerous, for obvious reasons....

It could..but that has nothing to do with the quote from Oscar Wilde, which is a play on words.
