Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Formal transmissions are very problematic. It is true, though, that Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche always defended that system and criticized western Dzogchen yogis and yoginis whom rejected the need of those same formal transmissions. There is no such thing as a Dzogchen yogi who has not received ...

Re: Publishing plans

Is anybody up to speed on the publishing plans for the remaining parts of: a) Choying Tobden Dorje's Complete Nyingma Tradition, which Snow Lion have been doing b) Longchen Rabjam's Precious Treasury series, from Padma Publishing? Yes, I have mailed both but not yet heard - perhaps due to the time ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I have to say, it is getting exhausting seeing people basically say to shut up any time anyone brings up something questioning the DC's direction. The fact is that Rinpoche is no longer running the DC. There appear to be a few different camps, I imagine each one claims they are carrying Rinpoche's ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Maybe because the sangha has a tendency to querrel with each other and make a big deal about little thinga thay are different from what they want or expect. Just my guess tho I second this guess. People around the world speculating and having expectations that Yeshi do things exactly like is father...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I read Italian so I can tell you that you sign an NDA and promise to not disclose the program even afterward. It is only for people that haven't got transmission from Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. /magnus Makes me really wonder why all these precautions... almost sounds like a test bunch :rolling...

Re: There is no Vajrayana without renuciation

One topic for the relevant forum - There is no Dzogchen with renunciation. I think you could argue that viewing phenomena without any attachment or aversion is the ultimate renunciation -- as it's completely turning away from samsara. Yes, this is a supreme renunciation. Even to embark on the path ...

Re: Subtle body in Dzogchen

I am looking for all the resources I can on the subtle body in the Dzogchen teachings & hope people here can help with a few pointers. All kind of sources are welcome. Thanks! The anatomical aspects of Dzogchen are described in the 11 vajra topics. You can find this in Buddhahood in this Life and o...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I suppose we have here some guys from international gakyil. If so, could anyone comment on...

I'd appreciate feedback from someone influenced by rushen teachings on this for sure my friend. What are your thoughts on this?
Rushen is very important for Dzogchen practitioners. It is the main preliminary practice.

Re: Personal retreat suggestions - focus on semde

I have lungs for all that stuff, but I don't want to take on anything new for this retreat. I have some experiences of the Semzins, Rushens, of the various forms of Guru Yoga, and the short Tun. I'm thinking that especially since I will be alone I should probably do the Rushens practices that are b...

Re: Personal retreat suggestions - focus on semde

Take a look at your situation and try and determine if there are any secondary practices that might be useful to intersperse between sessions that will be helpful to the main practice....the 3 day Vajra Armor retreat comes to mind as an example..Ive also found it helpful to do LOTS of really short ...

Re: sems and rigpa

Come on, you said there is no difference between them. I never suggested that they are separate. We can notice the nature of something, that doesnt mean the appearance and nature are different. Mind and its nature are not different in any way. What is different is whether or not someone knows this....

Khenpo Gangshar: It is very important to distinguish the difference between mind (sem) and awareness (rigpa). Re: sems and rigpa

But these two sentences contradict each other. The difference between sems and sems nyid is a heuristic tool -- and sure, it is a concept, and in the end the two notions refer to the "knowing" in our mindstream in the broadest sense of the word. All the same, in the framework of rushens, etc., ther...

Re: sems and rigpa

TUR (and other Dzogchen masters) would talk about the 5 wisdoms in a Dzogchen context. In some Semde texts, sems is said to "become" ( = be "apprehended" as) Dharmakaya when sems nyid gets seen for what it is. Malcolm would know, and I am not sure, but it seems to me that in Upadesha sems is princi...

Re: sems and rigpa

Coincidentally Malcolm just answered this question on Facebook. I won't quote him directly as he prefers his posts not shared elsewhere, but his answer is in agreement with Heart. And he points out, as he has done here before, that what distinguishes Dzogchen from the path of transformation, includ...

Re: sems and rigpa

To Josef, That sounds like renunciation no? If so, then renunciation is not putting on robes and shaving heads. This quote is Parting from the Four Attachments. Which is a teaching by Sakya Patriarch Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, and is not a Dzogchen teaching although it is very valuable and profound. It ...
