Re: malas (again)

None of this matters. Guru Rinpoche seemed to think it did, that's why he taught on this subject. Tendrel is a very important aspect of Vajrayana, to say none of this matters frankly sounds very Dzogchen of the mouth-ish. As always. My interest in your opinion of my posts is non-existent. Im well a...

Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands

So, just as this seemingly "literally existent" universe appears/seems to "literally exist," it is just as possible that when it dissolves after death, we may come to see Sukhavati as "literally existent"? Unlikely, it is probably the case that beings born in pure realms have already realized that ...

Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands

So what is the "literally existent" universe "out there" that OP mentions? There is no "literally existent" universe. So, just as this seemingly "literally existent" universe appears/seems to "literally exist," it is just as possible that when it dissolves after death, we may come to see Sukhavati ...

Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands

so how do the 6 realms manifest? If there are beings born into the realm, it exists. If there are no beings to perceive that realm, it does not exist. Thus a realm's existence is wholly dependent upon there being a mind capable of perceiving reality in that manner. source: Abhidharmakosabhasyam So ...

Re: malas (again)

"None of this matters." Depends on Your Teacher and what practice you are doing. There are terma practices where there are very specific instructions on exactly what kind of mala to use as well as all the various other samaya instruments and substances involved. Especially when it comes to the lay-...

Re: Mindfulness vs. Bodhicitta vs. Compassion

So let me get this straight. Compassion develops bodhicitta, but during difficult obstacles, mindfulness develops compassion, yes? It isnt that lateral. Bodhicitta is cultivated through contemplating the four immeasurables. Through that practice love, compassion, joy, and equanimity develop. In ord...

Re: Mindfulness vs. Bodhicitta vs. Compassion

Yes... Mindfulness : a distinct mental factor that repeatedly brings to mind a phenomenon of previous acquaintance without forgetting it. It doesn’t allow the mind to be distracted from the object and is the basis for concentration. Bodhicitta : the wish to attain full enlightenment for the benefit...

Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands

Does the mind exist solely because of the body? Does body, the speech, or the mind have primacy? No, and in terms of primacy the mind is most important in terms of practice but all of this is relative and they are not exclusive from one another. so how do the 6 realms manifest? Through the karma of...

Re: What are the Preliminary Teachings?

Thank you all for your replies. By four thoughts, are you referring to the Four Noble Truths? The Four Thought that Turn the Mind 1) the difficulty of finding the freedoms and advantages of this precious human life 2) the impermanence of life, which turn the mind away from the concerns of this life...

Re: Left Buddhism

Can you go back to your old teacher? I mean: are they still around? They sure are, its Garchen Rinpoche. And when i think about him i feel a sense of "its alright, get back on track, keep going." And a feeling of forgiveness. Love that man. Unless you completely abandoned bodhicitta (which clearly ...

Re: Tibetan Yogis

Whether or not one is a yogi is dependent upon the individual. the guy merely ask which school still has highest number of yogis in their tradition in Milarepa way. perhaps we got our "yogi" definition different. to me a yogi if we speak of vajrayana yogi is the one who practice yogas, ie do work o...
