Re: Advice Needed

My name is Rachel. I am 39 and living in the west of Ireland. I am studying the Dharma online. I've been learning for about three years. My dream is to eventually become a Monastic. Right now, I am living with a two year old boy. It's just him and me. We live in a rural area with one Catholic Churc...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I've heard from Lama Allione that one must have permission to do so from the person you wish to perform it on. I've not seen any specific textual instructions for doing so, however. Maybe something to ask senior students or if any one here has a reference to a talk or book that deals with this spec...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

It seems that sometimes chöd can be performed for non-practitioners in order to benefit them. Is there a protocol for doing this with the chöd practice Rinpoche has taught us, or is the understanding that we should only do it in the presence of those who have received transmission? I am partially a...

Is gcer grol instant presence?

Is gcer grol contemplation?

What benefits does gcer grol lack compared to shar grol and rang grol?

Re: Is it rare to spew don’t time with you guru?

Yagmort, :good: I can't imagine practicing Vajrayana without having a close, personal relationship with one's Guru. Agreed. Having experienced both the receiving profound instructions from someone I dont really know and being close to my guru I can say that serving tea to my guru is a more powerful...

Re: Ngondro: A Stand Alone Practice For You?

This is mainly a question for those who have finished their ngondro or at the very least a good chunk of the way through. Do you think it is better to do ngondro as a stand alone practice, meaning focusing only on that and not doing any other daily practices? Or do you feel there is some benefit to...

Re: What does "magnetizing" mean in regard to the function of Red Tara?

Hi im new here. I love the Buddhadharma and often have questions about my Vajrayana practice, so i'm hoping I can get some use from this site. I am wondering about the "magnetizing" function that red Tara brings about. Any elaboration is appreciated, thanks This is more of a samaya topic than a for...

Re: Doing Vajrayana practices for the dead of other religions

“Ugh, don’t you pray to your heathen gods for me! Pray to Jesus!” That’s what I’m taking about. I know that's what you're talking about and anyone with real bodhicitta also has the skillful means and wisdom to make sure they arent doing harm. Bodhicitta is WAY more than compassion. Again, I am inti...

Is possible to eliminate all instinctive self-grasping that we have as human beings? And experience, for example, memories without the sense of personal identity in an enduring way? I was reading the following article and got confused if a direct experience of emptiness eliminates all self-grasping...

Re: Doing Vajrayana practices for the dead of other religions

That is of course the whole point, but what makes you so sure that would be enough to prevent them from becoming freaked out, angry, and/or fearful that they're sinning? Because there is absolutely no guilt, shame, or judgement in bodhicitta. Bodhicitta is wisdom or the true nature of reality manif...

...lack of empathy of the organizers... I imagine it is this one. ...or maybe just pure greed? I don't think so. Re: Doing Vajrayana practices for the dead of other religions

It’s said that when wandering through the bardo, people are somewhat clairvoyant with respect to those they knew in the life they just passed away from. That being the case, then I’m wondering if doing Vajrayana practices on their behalf could unintentionally hurtle them into an unfortunate rebirth...
