Re: Quit Chanting

Wherever you go in life, please don't lose the heart that seeks to benefit others. Yes. Wonderer, in suggesting that you relinquish your burden, underlying that is my wish that you go on to find the path that brings benefit to yourself and others. You ought not be made to feel pressured or imposed ...

Already tried that. But goes onto long discussions and persuasion to not stop practicing.
I thought of that as a possibility as I recommended it.

Give it to a Nichiren Shu priest. Or, you can send it to me and I will make sure its taken in and retired properly.

pm me if you like.

Re: Quit Chanting

Return it to where you got it from.

If you've decided to stop practicing, unburden yourself from having to keep it respectfully.

Fare well.

Re: What does it mean, "All other Buddhas are followers of Shakyamuni Buddha?

One question to the ones who says that Nichiren was a bodhisatva is: why so follow a practice established from an bodhisatva and not a buddha ? Well, first let's address Nichiren's relationship to Jogyo (Superior Practices)... The Lotus Sutra states that Bodhisattva Superior Practices and the other...

Re: What does it mean, "All other Buddhas are followers of Shakyamuni Buddha?

I think SG follows Nichiren Shoshu's lead. Shoshu emphasizes Nichiren over Shakyamuni. Its been a while so I may be off about particulars, but IIRC Shoshu's view is that Nichiren is the original teacher of NMRK, rather than Jogyo Bosatsu who received the transmission of NMRK for Mappo from Shakyamun...

Re: Why Ongi Kuden quotes Ongi Kuden ?

I suspect you are using understatement. Surely you know that Nichiren teaches "You must never think of the buddhas...as being outside yourself." - On Attaining Buddhahood. This raises a good question - Where is the Buddha? Is the Buddha internal or external? There are some aspects of Illaraza's cri...

QQ: there's no need to insult Tucker Carlson like that with the F word, especially on a Dharma forum. And you're implying he says what he says only because of money - which is a projection as you have no evidence for that. Do you watch Tucker Carlson? I do. And I've watched him for many years. When...

Norwegian, The sheer ignorance and vitriol you display regarding Trump is what's sad. See the things he's accomplished and re-evaluate yourself. ►Move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. ►Pull the United States out of the Iranian nuclear deal. ►Stand up to NATO countries for not ponying up eno...

Re: Tulsi Gabbard

I want someone who at a gut level cares about people, stands with middle and working classes, understands the gravity of environmental issues, and is ready to go toe-to-toe for the full fight, not just built for quick knockouts. We've got a generational fight, literally for survival on our hands, a...

Re: Tulsi Gabbard

What about Gabbard's comments on the LGBTQ community? Kind of goes together with her Hindu religion tbh. I like Warren. She seems sincere, smart and capable. Warren has zero charisma and therefore no chance. I think she is a great senator, I think she would make an excellent cabinet member in a Dem...

Re: Why Ongi Kuden quotes Ongi Kuden ?

Illaraza takes an extreme position with regard to the Ongi Kuden. His view is a minority view. He assumes certain interpretations of the Ongi Kuden are the only interpretations, without acknowledging the text itself lends itself, more readily, to views he purportedly espouses. The exception may be d...

The only requirement to be Vice President is to be alive, and I believe that is merely convention. Is that right? No age requirement for VP? What's the VP's job except to step in in case POTUS dies? I guess Pelosi would be next in line. Whoops, the 12th amendment says that the VP has to be eligible...
