Re: Long meditation session

Hello, I'm new to meditation (only practically, theoretically I know a lot of informations about it). I realised that many things what I was doing are useless and waste of time. So I decided to meditate as long as I could. Coz I have a lot of free time I would like to spend that time in meditation....

Yes, of course.

Here is a prayer used in the Kagyu tradition, placed at the very end of a session.
This prayer is used in all the traditions.

Re: Nyung Ney

Is this practice something that needs empowerment before performing? I was under the impression (well, have been told this in Sakya) that 1000 Arm Chenrezig is empowerment needed for Nung Ne. Sakya is very particular about these matters. Gelug and Nyingma basically less so. Lama Zopa has said that ...

Re: I need some help for an internet research

So, thanks. I'll check that out. I can find very much about the different kinds of viruses and about which software is affected and so on. But it's hard to find any fresh information about the question in the OP. If i compare it to the question "How many fruit grow on planet earth?" for example, th...

Re: Alternative to possibly toxic metal kapalas

I made a kapala once using copper sheet. It is quite easy. I just used a rounded skull sized rock to beat the copper sheet over and then I painted the outside with white enamel paint and left the inside copper red. Copper actually purifies anything placed in it, that is why saddhu urns and ayurvedi...

A man gunned down a class full of 10 year olds and nothing changed. The gun control debate in America is over, Yes, unfortunately and these shootings are regarded as a necessary cost of the 2nd amendment. No and never! Re: I need some help for an internet research

Hi, Ayu, In English it's usually spelled "Malware" and a search for that term should get you plenty of results. All I can say as a user is that I have rarely had problems with getting stuff from anyone I know but I do routinely get suspicious emails - phishing scams, Nigerian gold, etc - from stran...

Re: What causes a Bodhisattva to regress?

afaik, regression is only possible for those devotees below the first bhumi, which is effectively those Mahayanists aspiring toward bodhicitta. Otherwise, actions might stall or delay a bodhisattva’s progress, but those bodhisattvas that have realized the first stage abide on the ground of non-retr...

Just looked that work up on Amazon. Whoa. Its an encyclopedia. Yep. You could do a lot worse in life than get hold of the full set and study them.   It would take a life and then some! Is it a text that requires empowerment? No, except for the final two sections of book...

Re: Rudra

Mantrikas also can turn/fall to Rudras, no? I believe that being a kind of criminal mantrika is the only way one can become a rudra. It seems quite intentional. Re: Rudra

By what cause and on which condition people become Rudras? Unwholesome karma and ignorance. After becomimg Rudra, what's next? You stay a rudra until the karma that lead you to that rebirth peters out (or you are tamed/liberated by a practitioner) and the effects of the next strongest karma kicks i...

....It's Ajahn Chah dude, did you read it or try to get the gist of it? As for what "being free" would look like, that is different from the usual meaning of the term where it stands for doing and experiencing whatever one pleases. No, "doing and experiencing whatever one pleases" <> "being free". ...

Re: Nibbana Is Giving Up, Letting Go, and Being Free, Ajahn Chah

I haven't read much Ajahn Chah but this is consistent with what I have read from him previously and is consistent with the Southern Tradition as I have read/heard it from elder monks. Ajahn Chah was a great practitioner, almost certainly an Arhat so perhaps there is more here to sit with. That's a b...

Thank you
Well there is Longchenpa Guru Yoga at least within Longchen Nyingtik. Do you have a (Nyinmga) lama who teaches the Longchen Nyingtik?

Re: Is Dharma practice a struggle for you?

Ethics are a struggle and I haven't always done well. I suppose ethics are a struggle in one form or another for most people. However I personally found that my ethical practice got kind of supercharged through the practice of the Eight Mahayana Precepts, even if I only practice them on duechen day...

The Practice and Benefits of the Eight Mahayana Precepts, pdf, Lama Zopa, FPMT. The first part is the ritual for taking the Eight Mahayana Precepts and the second part is a teaching on the Eight Mahayana Precepts.
