How exactly do define 'fascist'? a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fascism as well as a tendency toward ruthless protection of the status quo with the possibility of violence. Then examine the history of civil...

Kirt, the white demographic is on the decline. Which certainly wins the non sequitur award. Kirt Not at all-- the white demographic is declining, and millennials are socialist-oriented, even in conservative parts of the nation. They know they will never experience the prosperity of their grandparen...

Yes it can an often does. I live in one of those states where it is perfectly legal to do so and have been the victim of such discrimination in more than one setting, including a medical one at a hospital. It's completely tragic how some lives are seen as worth less than others by some people. Whic...

Can anyone explain to me what this woman thought was going to happen next when she went to his room? I'm sure she wasn't stupid. She also shares responsibility. Re: Scary Liberal Views and Policy Positions?

Austria... Well... We all know Austria's history, don't we? ;) I'm afraid most people don't. Austria elected a fascist Chancellor (who didn't appear to be fascist when he was elected) who was then assasinated by an illegal rival Nazi group supported by their sister party in Germany where an Austria...

It is true that the map shows employment discrimination but after employment discrimination is dealt other forms of discrimination (based on services and the withholding thereof, but excluding a lot of family law) are usually taken care of. Re: Scary Liberal Views and Policy Positions?

The civil rights movement in this country was fought in part because whites refused to serve blacks at restaurants and hotels all over the US. Businesses do not have a right to discriminate. Re: Can't meditate anymore.

Shorten your meditation to 5 minutes sitting meditation followed by 5 minutes walking meditation. See if your concentration improves over time. If it does, then add more sessions (with sitting and walking paired) and gradually then increase the sessions to 10 minutes.

Last night Sean Hannity (Fox News contributor) said, “many are hailing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a rising star on the political landscape but in reality, her views, her policy positions, are actually downright scary.” And then showed a graphic outlining her platform: “Medicare For All” “Housing A...

I'm not sure I'd say "marginal" although it is primarily an East Asian teaching. There are in fact references to it in Tibetan Buddhism but they are usually indirect. Kirt Hi Kirt, What do you have in mind as regard to its presence in Tibetan Buddhism ?   Thx M These are basically oral teachings al...

Re: Is everything "one" or are we just inter-connected without a center?

"Interconnectedness" thought as some kind of "interpenetration", where "everything is connected with everything else, at every single point in time and space" is a central theme of the Huayan school of Chinese Buddhism, but, as far as I can tell, this view is rather marginal if you take Buddhism as...

Re: Big messages to deplorables ???

The reality is that we have to curb the power of the presidency. It has become unbalanced. This is the problem. Individuals, even people taking collective action, cannot curb the power of the President of the United States. Congress alone can do that and usually with great difficulty. In the last a...

Also as an aside, read some Ippen Shonin. Not directly relevant perhaps but there is an influence in his writing from more "esoteric" schools, and I found him really inspirational, almost like a PL wandering yogi.
What would you recommend?
